Bevo's Daily Roundup 1.02.09

Sunday's Under Armour All-America Game on ESPN will give you a peek at the next few years of UT's program. Five Texas commits are participating. Be sure to watch.
Congratulations to Mack Brown on winning the Bobby Dodd Award.
The award was established in 1976 to honor the Division I coach "whose program represents the highest ideals on and off the field."
According to the Bobby Dodd Foundation, the award is designed to honor a coach who enjoys a successful season while also stressing the importance of academic excellence and character as Dodd, the Georgia Tech coach for 22 years.
Wide receiver Quan Cosby will watch the BCS national championship game and he plans to root for the Sooners.
"I always pull for the Big 12 teams," Cosby said.
But there still is a sting to losing a shot at the national title.
"Of course it hurt," said Cosby, who added that the Christmas break allowed players to clear their heads for the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
"As much as it hurt, we are still in a BCS game in Arizona. The Fiesta Bowl is treating us well. The opportunity to play a program like Ohio State will clear your mind really fast. You can't really worry about the things you can't control. This whole year we had a lot to prove, and we still do, apparently."
Is there anything he can't do? Colt McCoy can sing.
The Ohio State University Buckeyes
Buckeye seniors cornerback Malcolm Jenkins and linebacker James Laurinaitis could have bolted for the NFL last year but decided to stay for their senior season.
"I didn't want to leave and think, 'Dang, I wish I could go back,' " James Laurinaitis said. "I sit there and think, 'I'm extremely lucky to be playing for Ohio State University.' And why leave that? You're so loved in Columbus, so loved in Ohio. Why leave that early? Enjoy it while you can."
Chris Beanie Wells still has not decided if he will return to OSU next season.
"I personally feel like I haven't done enough at Ohio State, the things I wanted to accomplish here, to move on to the next level," the junior running back said Thursday.
Asked if that meant he was leaning toward staying at Ohio State for another season, Wells said: "I don't want to say I'm leaning toward staying or I'm leaning toward going. All I'm saying is I do want to be the best Buckeye to ever come through here."
So, what do the OSU players think of Colt McCoy's name?
Kansas beat Minnesota to win the Insight Bowl 42-21. Head coach Mark Mangino was especially proud of his players.
"That first nine minutes of that game was as hectic as I’ve ever had," defensive coordinator Clint Bowen said. "Once we got it all figured out, we got settled in."
Did they ever. For the remaining 53:57 of the game, Kansas allowed seven points, those coming in the fourth quarter.
"Our coaches got the defense together, got them settled down after the first quarter and made the adjustments that were needed at the time," said KU head coach Mark Mangino, who improved to 3-1 in bowl games and won his 20th game in two seasons. "... Our defense really played really outstanding, had a very courageous performance on defense."
Nebraska beat Clemson in the Gator Bowl 26-21.
The biggest reason was Ganz, who shook off a gimpy knee in the first half to throw two touchdowns and help Nebraska reclaim the lead in the third quarter. Earlier, Ganz's botched option pitch was returned for a Clemson touchdown and his interception late in first half led to another Tigers score.
Kansas State quarterback Josh Freeman will enter the NFL draft this spring.
John Rohde, NewsOK, asks if the Big 12 was what we thought it was.
The Sooners
Happy 10th anniversary, Bob. Today, Bob Stoops received a three million dollar anniversary bonus from the University of Oklahoma.
Broncos owner Pat Bowlen made a preliminary move toward Stoops for the job in Denver.
Is OU thinking about their last bowl appearance? There is a banner hanging in the weight room to remind the team of last year's West Virginia fiasco.
For months in their Switzer Center weight room hung a banner with the score and quote from West Virginia quarterback Pat White: "48-28: I guess we just wanted it more."
This could be you. LSU, a good team but definitely not a Florida, beat Georgia Tech 38-3 in the Peach Bowl. A sobering thought for Sooner fans?

i personally hope the sooners suffer a beat down at the hands of florida, sam bradford bolts for the NFL, bob stoops leaves to try his hand at the NFL, and their entire O-line leaves to expose a young qb (a soph/junior who has never thrown a pass in college) in command of the offense.

Actually
I want them both back so we can whip them again.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.

we whipped them this year and look what they ended up with, a big 12 champ, a heisman, and a shot at the national championship….
fuck them coming back, i want to see their program fail in every facet of the game.

Hot damn, we have a singin', slingin' quarterback.
We certainly have harmonic receivers.
We even got the A-train in Cody rumbling through. This can be fun.
