Stoops Rumored Headed for Broncos
ESPN reported that Stoops is a frontrunner in the Broncos head coaching job - and the MNC game vs. Florida may be his last BCS meltdown. Seems odd how you would fire a coach of the caliber of Shannahan and Stoops emerges as the replacement. Guess it would be great news to the Horns - and would give me reason to hate the Broncos.
To get my 75 words, I want to wish all of you the happiest of New Years in 09!

I'm a Denver fan in Texas...
And I promise you, I’m already mad about Shanahan being fired to begin with, but if they hire Stoops, they go immediately to the bottom. Go Cowboys?

Oh DON'T EVER DO THAT!
Become a Titans fan. Go to where all the Longhorns end up drafted!
Don't sweat the pettiness, pet the sweatiness.
LOL awesome if true
If this happens, Mack should be licking his chops. Multiple Big 12 championships here we come!

Dunno about that
Beating OU hasn’t really been a problem lately
"Stats are for losers, I like winning games"
". . .switzer is a cracked out bitch . . ."-osu poster
not so fast
I would not be surprised if OU tries to hire the pirate from lubbock.
mixed emotions
I don’t know that the same satisfaction would come from beating some other coach
Shanahan was fired for refusing to fire his def. coordinator
which wasnt acceptable.
just clear up the firing. if shanahan said that, he left the owner with no choice.
mormons stole me and held me against my will with Oklahoma beer and 12+ hour work days.
Does Stoops realize
that once he’s in the pros, he’ll hafta draft players other than Texans?
I'd give my right arm to be ambidexterous.

I dunno...
He might just draft all his players from OU. Then he’ll be drafting only Texans.
Hook 'em Horns
Ah, Spurrier Syndrome. Could happen.

Dont think Bob Stoops will be going to the NFL. If he wanted to, he wouldve gone already, not stick around at OU for so long.
Broncos prez is an OU alumnus
Seems like they would make a good fit together.

Bonus time...
Maybe he was holding out for his ‘Stay Bonus’ ??? $3M after completing 10 seasons at ou, which he received as of yesterday.

If that happens, I will give even less of a rat’s a** about the Broncos than I already do. Their only saving grace is having Selvin Young on the team.
Sweet Redemption
If stoops does leave for the NFL, Jmack’s decision to go to OU will look even more foolish.
I’ve wondered about that possibility. I’d sure be glad if he were to change his mind. I think it would speak well for his ability to let fan criticism roll off his back, too, because a lot of Longhorns fans have been really vacuously malicious toward the kid for no good reason.

Don't forget
that OU loses their entire offensive line, Bradford is a good bet to leave, Iglesias is gone, Gresham could very well leave.
OU’s losing at least ten starters, probably at least two or three more, and possibly as many as 17 total. I think it’s likely Stoops knows this, and it might make sense to jump now. I’d be sad to see him leave before getting destroyed over the next few seasons, though. I think OU will beat TT next year, but I really think Okie State’s going to win Bedlam, and UT should win the RRS pretty handily. Can you imagine if Tulsa were to beat them in their home opener on Sept. 5th? If Miami stops sucking, OU could be looking at a fairly rough season.

Stoops to Denver
As much as I hate to see a Big XII team loase a bowl game, I think OU will crater and allow Florida to win. If that happens, and with all the departeures by the OU players; I could see “Big game Bomb” jumping ship. He knows that with OSU and TT and of course the horns, all fielding strong teams, recruiting will be a bear with nothing left of this years team to build on. I think he may rake the money and run.
Prediction
Denver hires Stoops, Stoops goes 4-12 next season, Broncos select Colt McCoy with their first pick, I spontaneously combust as my irony meter pegs out seeing the Broncos pick a Colt and the former Sooners coach take a UT qb with the first pick.

I know you’re saying this to be funny, but Denver wouldn’t draft McCoy early unless Cutler were to have a Theisman-like injury.
Also, I don’t think Colt’s going in the first round anyway. Love the kid, but I don’t think he’s going to win the hearts of NFL teams to the point that they’ll invest that early a pick into him.

Hey, like I said, I knew you were saying it for humor. I keyed on it more to voice my thoughts on Colt’s chances of going in the first round.

although this would be great...
lets be sure to pray for poor selvin young. poor, poor selvin young. knock on wood
suppose this does happen...
Do the Sooners promote Brent Venables? Do they hire Mike Leach? Or do they money whip another top coach?
Looking at Utah...
I would not be surprised if they picked Kyle Whittingham.
possibly
but whittingham just signed long term. Leach did as well but i read that his contract may have been written in “disappearing ink”
lol i’m pretty sure you read a comment from someone on BON who said they wished it was..or something along those lines.

Is Stoopid doing damage control?
Its like he wants his players to believe that he is staying.

If I had a championship on the line in less than a week I'd do the same
You want the focus to be on the big game and not whether your coach is coming back or not. But at the same time I bet that if OU wins then he’s gone regardless of what he says right now.
i wouldnt have minded seeing stoopsy-popsy go to the cowboys. it will instill the already growing discord i feel towards them.
If You See Kay, Oh You
I grew up a Cowboy fan
but gave that up when they hired Dumbass Barry. I have never really gone back, and was happy to see them implode this year.
Speaking of dumbasses, is there a competition among the networks to see who can hire the biggest idiot former player/coach/GM? I always mute the TV or change channels when I see Switzer. Tonight I noticed NBC has hired Matt Millen as an “expert”. Are you kidding me? Here is someone who has clearly demonstrated that he knows less about football than anyone on the planet. Well, except maybe Barry.

Millen is a slap in NBC's face. What were they thinking, maybe it was cheap labor!

I don't know if I want Stoops to stay or go
Do I want to see him fail miserably in the NFL or in the coming years in college football more?… that is the question.
I would personally prefer seeing him get fired after Mack impales him a few more times but either will do
Stoops or Mack
Wow, your level of hatred for Stoops is “interesting”. Did Stoops campaign for the Big XII South during the Texas – Texas A&M game, ummmm No – does he want to CHANGE the rules as agreed upon by the AD’s, another No. I do not know ONE Sooner that hates Mack. We make fun of his whinning of course, but we don’t hate him.

Stoops is a dirty, unsportsmanlike coach who runs a dirty and unsportsmanlike program. Mack is not.

stoops, actually, is fine with changing the conference’s championship selection, he just wants it before the season starts. i haven’t seen anything where mack brown suggested changing the rules midseason.

I'd rather he not...
I have a friend who’s a UNLV/Broncos’ fan. It would cause a rift in the relationship :p jk
Plus, I’d personally like him to be around for the next how many years of the new Longhorn era that’s arising… the next years should be some mighty interesting and fun to watch RRS’s.
What is to keep them from going after Will?
I would hope wouldnt do that but OU has the tradition, the recruiting and most importantly the money to snag Muschamp out of Austin. They would do it just to piss off this side of the Red River.
This is about the least likely hire I could imagine.
