LSR Final State Top 100
http://texas.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=1900
Texas will finish with 5 of the Top 10, and 10 of the top 20. That will go to 11 of the Top 20 with the expected Tevin Mims signing.
This class will have some big time potential in it, and there is no doubt that Gilbert could be the crown jewel.
In all of the years that I’ve been in this business, Gilbert is right up there with Vince Young and Drew Brees as the best in-state quarterback I’ve seen.
That has me salivating for 2010 and beyond. This doesn't sound like the type of guy who is going to be beat out for the starting job in 2010 after a year of on the job training with Colt.

I think we have a great shot at Kennard if you ask me
Kirkpatrick and Jones are very possible too. I would not be suprised if we got one of those guys.
Adopt-a-recruit: Devon Kennard DE
Phoenix (AZ) Desert Vista 6'3" 257lbs
#75. Marquise Goodwin
Are we supposed to assume he’s likely to come to UT on a track scholarship with hopes of doubling in football? Kind of a reverse Jamaal Charles? The guy sounds like he oozes talent (and speed, obviously), but will probably just focus on track and field. I wonder if we could turn him into another Percy Harvin-type should Mack (or Bubba Thornton) let him play football.
Goodwin wants to play football, too
He certainly seems to have a similar skill set to Percy Harvin. The Recruiting Spotlight on Goodwin will be up tomorrow.

i think it will all depend on how he does on the field, if he thinks he can be successful in football he’ll focus on football. if he doesn’t think he can be… then he’ll be a track guy who plays a lil football.

I think the opposite
If he is truly a world class athlete in T&F, he’d be crazy to ever step foot on the football field.
Tell it to Robert Griffin and Jamaal Charles.

Anyone notice in the LSR top 100 that..
The recruit we didnt get, Jamarkus McFarland, was passed up by our other DT recruit, Calvin Howell. Howell is 9th while J Mac is 12th. Funny how things pan out :)
Dexter Pratt
There are some rumblings that he may not end up at LSU. Wonder if we’d make a late push for him. We could use more LB’s.
LSU claims clearinghouse issues
and sources around Pratt make is seem like LSU is lyin and it doesn’t have room in their class for him after all.
He has not officially decomitted and it looks like he’ll probably go to Ok. State. A&M may still have a shot too.
