Next Season: Texas Vs. Wyoming. Bring it to the Cowboy State!
Just a heads up for anyone traveling to the Wyoming game next season. I'm a Longhorn transplant up here in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. There are a handful of us living the dream in the Tetons. If anyone is planning a trip to Laramie for the big game in September, let me know. We are going to throw one hell of a Texas tailgate party!! Hook'em! Can't wait to see the Horns in Wyoming!

I lived in Cheyenne for 3 years...
Wyoming is a terrible place….Your best eating options in Laramie are going to be applebees and maybe an outback steakhouse?
I would love to live in Jackson Hole though, its a beautiful part of the country.
planning on going to the "big" game
I’m planning on flying to Denver and hanging out in Colorado with my gf for a day or two before making the drive up to Laramie for the game. Needless to say, I don’t plan on spending too much time in Wyoming but would sure love to drop in on a tailgate
I've nearly ran over a lot of things in my life
Antelope was the near miss in Wyoming. Little, fast bastards.

Laramie
I spent a year in Laramie Wyoming and that is a year I will never get back! Honestly though when theres football in September its a pretty big deal there, Its cold as hell and windy but not nearly as bad as later in the season. I remember driving by the stadium in late October or November and not seeing too many fans out there. Have fun up there. If you drive from Denver, I recommend going through Fort Collins and then taking highway 287 up to Laramie. It’s a pretty drive at that time of the year.

That is a nice drive.
I’ve driven that in mid-October. A little icy on the pigtail and snow was blowing off Elk Mountain, but no problem getting to Laramie. It’s a little shorter than going through Cheyenne, but the curvy roads slow you down enough to make it about equal. I was coming from Longmont and going over to a job in Evanston, so it was a more direct route for me at that time.
I Lived There, Too
Tried to get on with UW’s Infrared Astronomy program, but got too homesick so I moved back to Austin a little after a year.
The Snowy’s are really pretty, but the town is pretty dull. I recommend the nut brown ale at The Library on Grand Street. Viva’s right: 287 is a nice drive. If you go through Fort Collins I highly recommend a stop at the New Belgium Brewery Pub. But do make sure to visit the Snowy Range. You’ll pass through Centennial and end up in Saratoga on the other side of the range. Saratoga is famous for its two-story outhouse.
It's Mean to Wean
I'm just over the border in Denver
so the Rocky Mountain Texas Exes may be visiting :)
My family
lives in Jackson and I spend a few months a year up there (away from LA) with them in paradise. I’m going to try to time my vacation for September so I can make the game. Pretty awesome to see the Horns playing so far from Austin.
Rocky Mountain Alumni Planning Events
The Rocky Mountain Texas Exes are planning events for the UT game in Laramie. It won’t be as big a production as the game in Boulder last year, but that’ll be the place to be.
Also, RMTE is planning for a charter bus (or two) to Laramie from downtown Denver. They’ll have beer on board for the trip up and back. I’ll post more info here about the bus ticket cost, depart/return times, etc. as it gets closer to the start of next season.
This is a step in the right direction (playing away games outside the neighboring states), but I still wish UT would make it out here to the east—and no, UCF doesn’t count.

I would love to see UT play out in my neck of the woods and play UC Berkeley! But I know that would never happen. Other than that being said I think the top 10-20 programs need to start switching up there schedules for example you play your reg conference games and your non conference games would be something like 1 Big 10 game 1-2 SEC games and 1 Pac 10 or ACC team that would be great for everyone than you would really know who has the best conference!
Well, at least they’ve played at UCLA, and I believe Stanford pretty recently as well. We didn’t live out in those parts back then, but I’m pretty sure I remember UT losing to the Cardinal in NorCal. Of course when we lived on Monterey Bay UT had zero games on the West Coast…

Wyoming.....
Is the shit. More hunting, climbing, skiing, drinking, eating, smoking, lawless open land goodtimes!
I might be going to this game.
We’re trying to decide on Wyoming or Stillwater next year!
