Knock, knock, knock on wood pre-game session.

The Craig Way intro to the game has dwelt at length on the Horns win streak. The interview with the Baylor assistant coach saw him bringing it up, too. Damn, that’s a lot of jinxing going on.

Baylor used to be a damn snake pit for the Horns. If anything, we’re just gettin’ even.

Everyone that comes on needs to knock on wood. We need it tonight.

Hook ’em.

Gary with a quick two fouls.

Texas' size...

quite frankly

anyone with size should kill Baylor’s three-guards line-up

Matt Hill

allergic to offense. Didn’t even look at the basket from eight feet.

Lots of clanked threes early.

by jimmer on Jan 27, 2009 8:11 PM CST reply actions

is it me, or are more young post players mastering the hook shot?

I’m not seeing anything like Abdul Jabbar’s skyhook, but I do see a lot of post players out there these days with nice baby-hook shots.

by Beergut on Jan 27, 2009 8:13 PM CST reply actions

6 all, under 16

Horns dominating glass but missing looks from three. Johnson on the bench with two early fouls the story so far.

Longhorns can’t just settle for jumpers; attack the rim and get rewarded at the line.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 8:13 PM CST reply actions

TRANSITION!

Dogus leads the mini fast break, leading to an open Abrams three. Terrible D by Baylor, allowing AJ to get open on the break.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 8:16 PM CST reply actions

Dang, Balbay travels

but I like that we’re running off of rebounds. Baylor won’t be able to stop that all day.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 8:18 PM CST reply actions

Horrible D by Baylor

Double Chap and leave AJ. Awful.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 8:18 PM CST reply actions

ROFL wtf Baylor?

did I see them double Chapman to leave Abrams open!?

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 8:19 PM CST reply actions

Disagree

That was a bad pass by Balbay. He needs to finish that one by himself and not dish it so late.

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 8:21 PM CST up reply actions

14-9, under 12

Texas D showing up. Very good sign.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 8:21 PM CST reply actions

James bricks a midrange J

the color commentator has been demanding that James post-up since Dunn is guarding him.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 8:24 PM CST reply actions

James not playing smart

He’s getting into a jump shooting contest. Take the ball to the rim.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 8:27 PM CST reply actions

Connor nearly airballs a jumper

good god this is freaking ugly. Nobody wants to shoot. Mason not doing anything on offense. I wish he could drive.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 8:28 PM CST reply actions

This is hard to watch

14 all, under 8.

Neither team looks like they can locate the basket.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 8:31 PM CST reply actions

Connor can't buy anything

and it’s starting to kill us because he keeps shooting.

Dexy scores to end this black hole.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 8:34 PM CST reply actions

OMG Connor misses a WIDE OPEN jumper

I just can’t believe what happened to him. Inexplicable.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 8:36 PM CST reply actions

Horrible D by Dex

Leaves his man to block a shot, doesn’t, and gives up a dunk.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 8:36 PM CST reply actions

Connor has sucked all year

It’s no longer surprising.

A stupid system that works exactly like it's supposed to is still a stupid system.

by blazzinken on Jan 27, 2009 8:39 PM CST reply actions

21 all, under 4

James finally hits a jumper but it was still a jumper and a contested one as well. Take the ball to the rim.

We will not win a jump shooting contest and that is what this game is turning into. Texas has yet to shoot a free throw. Those two early fouls on Gary loom large.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 8:41 PM CST reply actions

sad reality ....

is to be a senior and yet come up missing in action repeatedly … 0-7 … continuing a trend the entire season … i respectfully won’t even mention the name…

by Texfiter on Jan 27, 2009 8:42 PM CST reply actions

I don't get it

I just don’t get why Clint Chapman ever gets any court time. He’s fucking terrible.

A stupid system that works exactly like it's supposed to is still a stupid system.

by Microtonal on Jan 27, 2009 8:44 PM CST reply actions

James looks tired

He is shooting everything short and he has had a few shots blocked. Not like James

Blazz

by blazzinken on Jan 27, 2009 8:45 PM CST reply actions

Nice follow by Mason

Thank you James for driving. Didn’t work that time, but it will work more often than not.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 8:45 PM CST reply actions

Ugly, Ugly Half by both teams

Horrible shooting and worse shot selection by Texas.

Texas is lucky to be leading at half. 27-24. If Baylor had shot halfway decently, we would be in trouble.

AJ only player to find the basket from the outside and Mason added two late buckets in the paint. I’m not sure why Texas settled for so many jumpers but it has to end. Get Gary back in the game, feed him and attack the Baylor D off the dribble is the second half game plan.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 8:49 PM CST reply actions

Over / Under was 147.5

Probably won’t get there. 51 in the first.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 8:52 PM CST reply actions

Awful

What do they do in practice? Do they come with a plan? No ball movement, Hill is the only player who knows how to set a screen.

Good start to 2nd

Two stops and Gary with a turnaround J.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 9:05 PM CST reply actions

I can't believe it

James dribbled the ball for no reason when all he had to do was go up with the shot

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 9:06 PM CST reply actions

ROFL now a pathetic turnover

sigh… it’s the damn Arky game all over again.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 9:07 PM CST reply actions

Connor out, Chapman in

wish it could’ve been Hill or Pittman instead

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 9:08 PM CST reply actions

9-0 Baylor run

Turnovers and poor transtion D. Texas up five to down four just like that.

Ward

Why does Barnes play Ward? This team has no chemistry when he plays. Ward = sloppy team. He does not penetrate, he does nor shoot, what does he do?

by greenspointexas on Jan 27, 2009 9:12 PM CST reply actions

I've had a bad feeling about this game since the start of the season

Baylor has some good scorers, I knew this would be a dog fight…

Still, its only a 4 point game… 34-30 16 minutes left.

by the1austin on Jan 27, 2009 9:16 PM CST reply actions

34-30, under 16

We’re still fine. The D is still there. Baylor isn’t scoring at all in the halfcourt, only off turnovers or in run outs.

Texas needs to keep attacking the rim but actually finish as well. Sinking free throws would help too.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 9:18 PM CST reply actions

Baylor has 34 pts in 25 min

That is good enough D to win. If we keep attacking, we can steal this one.

Baylor has only been held to less than 70 points once this season

against Washington State. They have 39 with 13 min left.

The Texas D has shown up. Time to score. There you go Dex.

41 all, under 12

This is a conference road game against one of the tier one teams. This isn’t the Baylor we all remember from years ago. The Bears are good and will be in the NCAA tournament.

Texas is all tied with 12 minutes to go. I like our chances. Limit transition buckets and I think we can manufacture enough points to win.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 9:31 PM CST reply actions

everyone knows BU is decent team....

but with any semblance of offense, we would be killing them.

by DrunkArmadillo on Jan 27, 2009 9:34 PM CST up reply actions

if you look

at Baylors top 4 scorers, they are pretty even 9,8,7,7

all we got is James who is (4 of 18 from teh field) and Abrams carrying the team

by greenspointexas on Jan 27, 2009 9:34 PM CST reply actions

thats it

im all for putting the rest of the game in Abrams hands and hopes that he can knock down 3’s

by greenspointexas on Jan 27, 2009 9:35 PM CST reply actions

Baylor hitting threes, they must be covered

AJ getting open off screens.

We will win if we keep our composure

mannnnnnn look at those stats

Texas Baylor

Points 51 49

by greenspointexas on Jan 27, 2009 9:41 PM CST reply actions

Texas up 53-51, under 8

Horns starting to find a rhythm on offense. Connor and Ward with some makes from the line, AJ with a few jumpers, and even Balbay adding a nice drive.

Baylor is so streaky. They’re gonna keep jacking threes. If they make a few they’ll be up going into the final minutes. If not, Texas needs to take a little more time on offense a get a good shot.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 27, 2009 9:42 PM CST reply actions

Baylor is in muchos foul trouble

i dont think they’ll be able to keep up for long

by clra2 on Jan 27, 2009 9:42 PM CST reply actions

hey that was easy too. Perhaps they figured something out?

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 9:45 PM CST reply actions

by goingforthecorner on Jan 27, 2009 9:47 PM CST reply actions

this is huge for his development.

Goal tending. All because Johnson drove.
