Chizik Picks up 4-Star QB Tyrik Rollison
Good get for Chizik, possibly using his Texas connections to land him. I believe he's got academic issues, so we'll see if he makes it to Auburn. If he does, he may get a chance to play right away, as the rest of Auburn's QBs (led by Chris Todd) are crap in a bucket.
By the way, Rollison was the last top-tier Texas HS QB to commit, and none of them picked Texas A&M. Which leaves them with zero QB commits in the '09 class and only Jerrod Johnson and Tommy Dorman on the depth chart. Well done, Sherman.

hehe...watch out...
Sherman is actually looking at Colt’s little brother as a QB recruit for 2010…

QB for Ags
They already have a QB in the 2010 class committed named Jameill Showers out of Killeen. He’s like Rollison in terms of style and size; I don’t know about talent. They probably don’t feel as miffed as everyone is making it seemed because this guy committed a while back.

"seem", not "seemed"

Briefly looked up Showers
Didn’t know they had a QB commit so early; good for them. He’s currently on the Rivals 250 watch list, so he may be a good one.
What I find incredulous is that Texas was absolutely loaded with QB prospects this year. Check out the list of 4 and 5 star QBs via Rivals:
Pro-Style:
2. Garrett Gilbert 5* – Texas
14. Ryan Mossakowski 4* – Kentucky (over A&M, I believe)
15 (bonus 3*). Drew Allen first 3* on list – OU
Dual-Threat:
1. Russell Shepard 5* – LSU
2. Tyrik Rollison 4* – Auburn (had A&M on initial list)
6. Cody Green 4* – Nebraska
8. Shavodrick Beaver 4* – Tulsa (originally Michigan)
9. Casey Pachall 4* – TCU
You’re telling me with all that talent in Texas, A&M didn’t want to sign any of them? I find that pretty hard to believe, especially since after Texas made its selection and LSU quickly snatched up plan B, and OU feeling relatively set at the position, pretty much all the prospects were available for an A&M full court press recruitment. And it’s not like Jerrod Johnson is the second coming of Vince Young.
I’m more inclined to believe that A&M had pursued some of these guys, but were rebuffed. Maybe PrimeTime or beergut can shed some more light on this.
No, that's not what I'm telling you
Which is why I said “[t]hey probably don’t feel as miffed”, instead of “[t]hey don’t feel as miffed.” It is more of an educated opinion rather than a statement of fact.
My GUESS is that none of these guys showed any interest in A&M, with the exception of Rollison. I didn’t say that A&M didn’t want to sign any of those guys, I was merely opining that perhaps they realized they had no shot with any of the higher quality quarterbacks in the state, again with the exception of Rollison, and maybe Showers showed interest early on, leading Sherman to want to snatch him up.
Just because other prospects are still available doesn’t mean you go and put on the “full court press recruitment.” Its not a good use of resources to recruit prospects you have no chance with. Maybe A&M felt like they needed to use their scholarships for the 2009 class on other positions that they were weaker at. Who knows?
Either way, I think we should be content that A&M is left picking up whatever falls to the floor from the big boy’s table.

I think we agree; I was just adding the point that it seemed like A&M needed a QB in this recruiting class. They currently have Jerrod Johnson, who’ll be a junior and may or may not be good next year, Ryan Tannehill, who’s probably better off in his current possession receiver role, and Tommy Dorman, who I believe redshirted and could be the second coming of Colt but probably won’t. My contention is Sherman tried hard to bring in a QB in the ’09 class, but was rebuffed by all. He then turned quickly to a 2010 prospect who sounds very good, but by the time he develops, it may be 2-3 years, which may be too late for Sherman. I was merely wondering if that was a correct musing.
In either case, it looks like we’re both on the same page.
Weren't interested.
We signed Whaley earlier, and as has been mentioned before, we promised him he would be the only RB in this class. Also, there is speculation that Michael may not qualify (grades), and that factored into our non-recruitment of him.
