Army All American Game Open Thread
NBC. Right now. U.S. Army All American Bowl. What could be better? Christine Michael has already committed to a black hole Texas A&M. Sad to see high school kids screw up their lives on national television.

Texas Commits (Name and Number)
Chris Whaley, RB, 25
Greg Timmons, WR, 81,
Garrett Porter, LT, 78
Alex Okafor, DE, 80
Calvin Howell, DT, 99
Tariq Allen, OLB, 43
I belive that all of our recruits except Porter are starting today.
Really?
Aaron Murray’s not top talent at the QB position? That kid was top 5 before the nasty leg break. Looks fine running on it today. If Brown hadn’t dropped the deep ball in the 1st quarter, Murray would be looking fantastic right now…..

i think
they were mostly saying that in general the guys who went to play qb at the UA game are a bit more highly regarded by most recruiting outlets… that doesn’t mean they’re going to be better by any means but i agree with what he said – on the whole this game’s qb’s aren’t as highly regarded nationally.
well
he had the first one, im watching slightly delayued
QBs
I suspect the QB play in tomorrow’s UA game will be night and day compared to this game.
Agree
Seems to be the only one who can get any seperation.

no doubt
read that he has easily been the most consistent receiver all week long. I think the recruiting services have been under rating him.
side note – does anyone know if he always wears his hear like the dude from house party or is that some sort of a joke?
I feel like I am watching
Cinci vs Virginia Tech
question about whaley...
do yall see him fitting into texas’ system? he’s so big that he seems like he’d be a natural in more of a power running scheme rather than out of the shotgun.
Also I’ve read some speculation that he could easily out grow the position altogether and become a DE or maybe a TE..
Not completely sure
But they did tell Whaley he would be the only RB taken in this class, so Mack and Co. must have some plans for him at that position. Although, that may be because next year’s class is loaded. The RBs from Temple and Dennison are the first who come to mind.

I think him and Fozzy make a perfect tandem of speed and power...
although I have heard he could be used at linebacker…
east/west?
admittedly I probably had a better grasp of the American map in 5th grade than I do today but I was looking over the rosters and the east team has Darius Winston a db out of Arkansas on its roster and the west team has Dre Kirkpatrick the db out of ’bama on its team…. HUH?
Wow
That was impressive

I had not heard his name at all today

style of the game
don’t think all this passing really plays to his strengths. plus apparently there is some sort of no blitzing rule – I thought I was watching bball when I heard illegal defense called in the first half
Lane Kiffin didn't want that kid?
What an idiot. Makes me glad he’s at Tennessee…..

What is the word on Stafford? Do you think he is going to leave?
by Hookem4life84 on Jan 3, 2009 1:57 PM CST up reply actions
Word is 50/50 right now.....
Supposedly his relationship with the Manning brothers from their passing camp is making him think long and hard about a 4th year in Athens. That and a healthy O-line, lol. Moreno is more likely gone than Stafford at this point…..

If he leaves
Would Murrary be the front runner to start?
by Hookem4life84 on Jan 3, 2009 2:03 PM CST up reply actions
Highly doubtful.....
Joe Cox will be a 5th year senior and has started and won before. Jury’s still out on Logan Gray as well, kid out of Missouri who was our 3rd QB this season yet curiously found a consistent role returning punts. At this point, I think both Murray and Mettenberger might redshirt…..

Has Jamarkus done anything of significance today?

Maybe he'll do better with all that 1 on 1 coaching that blOwU athletes get.

Completely invisible...
I haven’t heard his name since they told the story in the 1st quarter. He’s a non-factor at this point, lol…..

No big deal..
Jackie Shipp is going to make him a better a person for the next 40 years.. I guess he was referring to the pay day he will be receiving from Big Red Auto.

Just to officially clear this up
Here is the quote from OB
We’re hoping to talk with Seastrunk a little more on Friday but from some people we talked to on Thursday afternoon, it sounds like Texas is very much in the picture for the speedster running back, and there’s some thought that the Longhorns could eventually creep into the driver’s seat. (Suchomel)

I read something that he wanted to go to the same school as his friend, any truth to this?

I sure hope Texas has a decent recruiting class. From what I understand, Colt did not have the talent that Bradford had – and said it cost him the Heisman. Of course, the fans in Oklahoma and Texas knows that is BS when the talking heads said it. The difference is, of course, that Bradford is simply better than Colt and coaching. Remember 39-33.

Of course, if Texas would not have LOST to Texas Tech 39 to 33 – Texas plays and wins Big XII Championship, Colt may have won the Heisman, AND you would be playing on Thursday night. As it is, Oklahoma is the 2008 Big XII Champion, Bradford won the Heisman and we are playing Thursday for the National Championship. I was going to wear my 2008 BIG XII Championship shirt in Dallas to counter the 45-35 shirts. But, if all goes well, I hope to wear the National Championship shirt.
