Kennard not ready to commit
According to this article, DK apparently didn't committ to Carroll yesterday. At least, UT is still working hard to sign him.
Hinds said Devon Kennard, the No. 6 prospect in the nation according to Rivals.com, had a few visitors yesterday and today. Arizona State stopped by Monday morning, and were followed by Southern California coach Pete Carroll. Arizona State then stopped by again later Monday, and then Texas, fresh off its Fiesta Bowl win, visited Tuesday.
"He's not ready to commit, though," Hinds said. "I talked to him today and he goes, 'Coach, I still don't know what I'm going to do.' He said at least a couple of more weeks, so that's going to take us at least up until signing day."

I'm sure he watched the Fiesta Bowl
it’s a shame we couldn’t give him a bench pass. Our W and the D’s performance should sway him some.
USC has been rakeing in the commits I’m surprised they have any ships left.
The fact that he is takeing so long doesn’t bode well for us it would seem.

i never really figured the rationale behind people who say “well he’s taking so long to commit, that’s better for us/ that doesn’t bode well for us”. he’ll try to make the best decision for him and we’ll just have to see what that means in a few weeks.
usc has 17 commits, they pick theirs up late, we pick ours up early.

ASU
no way he’s going to ASU. they always lose the best local talent. plus they were awful this past year.

i would imagine
when a quarter of your juniors go pro every year you can probably bring in bigger recruiting classes. I don’t know the nuances of how scholarships work but i assume once a player moves on you can give it to someone else…
He's probably going to USC
Lives in Arizona, probably a west coast guy, sees PAC 10 on TV all the time. And it’s Pete Carroll, he gets anyone he wants. I’d say Texas has a 20% shot at him, no better. PT is not an issue, coaching is perceived as superior at USC (the truth doesn’t really matter), USC wins the PAC 10 every year, and if you have talent you WILL make it to the NFL by pedigree alone.
I know Texas holds its own in recruiting but USC is national; the best in the game.
USC
4 of their 17 are out of state in their 2009 class
4 of their 19 last year were out of state
7 of their 18 in 2007 were out of state
8 of their 25 in 2006 were out of state
3 of their 18 in 2005 were out of state
That makes (so far) in the past 5 years, 26 out of 97 out of state recruits. Or 27%.
Thats a lot more than us no doubt, but but a little over 5 recruits a year from outside of Cali isnt all worldly either.
Florida for instance, has 8 of their 15 in this class from out of state, 12 of their 22 from last year as well.

USC's DC Holt following Sarkesian to U Dub
Think that will factor in his decision. Everybody keeps saying Muschamp staying is going to have an impact on recruiting. Stability yes, but what else if he can’t reel in the big time recruits?
USC’s DC was also their DLine coach (hint hint, kennard plays dline)…. it’s a big perceived loss and Carroll needs to find a replacement to introduce to Kennard before signing day.
