Reilly's article.....quite compelling.
I read it and I liked it. I do not like the media and the BCS immediately dismissing the likes of Utah and Boise simply because they do not play in one of the 6 "preferred" conferences. This system is in complete shambles. They talk about how the regular season is a weekly playoff...well, not true...see OUsux and FL "still" playing for the MNC. Last I checked, they both lost...one to a 9-4 team, one to a 12-1 team. I am over this system...they are ripping all that is good and holy with college football right out of our fingers. That notwithstanding, I sure hope that FL lays the wood to OUsux.
Back to my point...Utah probably could have played with anyone that night. Yet they will never get the chance to prove it. Eight bowl wins in a row...two BCS wins and two UNDEFEATED seasons in the BCS era...I believe they are the only team to accomplish that feat. Look, they can only play who they can play. But they deserve a CHANCE against the "chosen ones."
FL beats Bama and they get into the BCS MNC...Utah beats Bama and they get squadoosh. And spare me the "Bama had nothing to play for crap. The are Ala-freaking-bama...you show up and play!!!
Of the one loss teams, UT and OU have the most compelling arguments for being included still at this point to face Utah. But the horns should have put it on tOSU...the little 10 is way down this year...and please spare me the layoff with passing teams yada yada yada. The horns were very lucky to eek out that victory. They had to have a beatdown to even get consideration for #1 and they did not accomplish that goal. UT will finish 3 or 4 is my gut feeling...possibly behind USC and the winner of the MNC. If they finish 2, it will be even worse if OUsux actually wins the MNC game...how ironic will that be...identical records, with UT behind the hated Sooners...need I say more?

BCS and Utah
I’m starting to think about this and before the BCS what are the chances that Utah would even get to play Alabama… ever? If they were good enough to be in the BCS would Alabama schedule them as an OOC game. I doubt a BCS level bowl would schedule them because their fanbase would be smaller than a powerhouse program like Ohio State or Nebraska.
So I’m kind of thankful we got to see what they actually can do against Alabama and we can be pissed off they don’t have a chance at the championship after handling one of the SEC big boys.

"had to have a beatdown"
When did it not become enough just to win?
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.

When Steve Spurrier decided to start running up the score in every game they played in about 1995 and the voters rewarded him for it.

Thank you.
Today everyone feels the need to “crush”, “demolish” and otherwise “destroy” the competition in order to get the respect they feel they deserve. Apparently gone are the days of sportsmanship. A National Championship or Bust, and we don’t care who stands in the way. Second place is nothing, meaning all the other bowls are garbage. Therefore it must be okay to run it up any chance you get. Show the voters.
I was visiting family in Texas last week and I came across a little armadillo rooting through the underbrush for food, as I was hiking through the same woods. It caught my movements and scurried away. For about 3 seconds. Then it just resumed looking for its food. Several times I “chased” it to see how close I could get, even touching its tail at one point before it would madly race off. Again for a few seconds. It was forgetting all about me every time. It reminded me of the highly esteemed voters out there. What?! Something interesting just happened?! Let’s look. Wow, that’s cool. This is worthy of great adulation and …. oh wait, what’s this??! Something intereting just happened?! Let’s look. Wow, that’s cool. This is worthy of …… You get my drift. The BCS sucks and it drives teams and individuals to do irresponsible and unsportsmanlike acts.

I think Utah deserves a title shot but let’s not forget one thing:
If Utah hadn’t pulled out of their game with Texas this year, either the Utes or the Horns would be playing Florida in the MNCG tonight. If we win, it would have boosted our SOS enough to win the Big 12 South tiebreaker. If they win, it legitimizes them on the national stage.
Guess who it was who pulled Utah out of that game? Urban Meyer.
For reference this game was originally scheduled for when we ended up playing Florida Atlantic.

You could hardly say this was a conspiracy by Meyer...
to prevent Texas from playing in this year’s NCG, but it is interesting how it played out. However, you could say it was a way for him to drive to an undefeated season and stake a claim on being No. 1.

He didnt committ to carroll at his house so,
the longer it goes, the better for us. Secondary coach at Sc is new DC. Holt coached the d line. I think our chances increased about 20%
