Stoops = Big Game Loser

Thanks for representing the Big 12, asshole. You ran up the score and got yourself in there. Then you shat another egg. As expected. Go to Denver and good riddance. And take Switzer with you. The farther he is from Texas, the better.

Great year and thanks PB for your dedication to this site. It has been a great ride and tonight was great vindication. Can’t wait for ’09 and the Rose Bowl (yep, that is cart before the horse talk).

I'm disappointed

I really, really wanted Florida to punch it in at the end & run up the score. It’s great that Florida won with class… maybe Stoops will see what that looks like & finally figure it out.

Karma gets you when you keep running up the score.

OU lost, but they didn't get blown away.

Yes, the Big 12 can play defense. We can play with the SEC.

Texas beating OU was no fluke, either.

Perhaps she

felt bad for the children watching their teams get stomped when Stoops ran up all those scores and topped 60 for no reason but “style points”, but I doubt it.

Also, the Fox cameraman and crew showing her on national tv is much worse than a still shot posted on a blog, as long as the comments don’t get out of hand.

by tdwalsh on Jan 9, 2009 12:26 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Aw, You're a Softy

But the fact is, this poor little (big) girl has probably on countless occasions flashed the upside down Hook’em. In fact, that’s all the entire Sooner nation does when we play them. I think it’s classless, unimaginative and shows so little pride in their own school. Our Hook’em is a sign that shows support for our team. We don’t flash “Get Yer Guns Down” or upside down thumbs during games to demean TTU or A&M. We flash Hook’em’s all game long. Sure, I’ve done an upside down thumb to obnoxious Aggies, but that’s as far as 99% of UT fans go.

So, IMHO this girl gets no sympathy from me. She’s fair game, convicted by the behavior of 99.9% of Sooner fans, most likely including her.

by RMHorn on Jan 8, 2009 11:56 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

11:12pm CST….OU still sucks.

by dee gee on Jan 8, 2009 11:13 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

One interesting thing to note:

The OU community has to be really delicate about how they handle this loss. Their emotional reaction may be a backlash against a coach that has lost 5 straight BCS games and 3 of 4 games against Texas, but what poor timing, as he must strongly be considering an offer from Denver.

What do you do if you’re a Sooner? I think you have to show him support, because whoever they get to replace him would certainly set them back a few years. They want to keep him.

by BrooklynHorn on Jan 8, 2009 11:14 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I don't think the fan reaction

will have too much impact. If Stoops wants to go to Denver, he would have gone, win or lose. Even if the fans welcomed him back to Norman with a parade, the $ are bigger in the NFL, and he knows it will be awhile before OU can get back to to the top.

PGC

So did you guys happen to catch the Pontiac Game Changing moment of the year? I think it kept you out of this game! I realize Tech absolutely folded after November 1st, lost the Cotton Bowl, but it still doesn’t change the fact that your players will have nightmares about that play for the rest of their life! See you next year in Austin, maybe we can steal one, but don’t worry I am not counting on it.

Thats ridiculous

How am I gonna gloat on a site of the team that beat Tech by 44 points. haha that is absolutely ridiculous. The Pontiac Game Changer had no effect on OU, it helped us beat you! I agree Ole miss handily beat Texas Tech and they won’t get much better until our defense is stronger, faster, and has a legit DC. I do have a serious question for you guys: Do you not think Mack Brown’s ongoing whining is not a little excessive?

Listen, bud

You look really pathetic trying to pretend your team is among the elite in college football. It just isn’t. I didn’t mind Tech too much until this year, when many fans started to become pretentious and delusional.

Besides, check your facts: It wasn’t Mack’s “lobbying” who got us in the Rose Bowl. We actually lost points in the coaches poll afterwards.

So let me get this straight...

you legitimately came here to gloat about winning the PONTIAC GAME CHANGER?

Nothing I say in this instance can possibly do you any more harm than you have already done to the reputation of Texas Tech here tonight.

by BrooklynHorn on Jan 8, 2009 11:27 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Hold on there.

I am trying to get a hopefully knowledgeable UT fan’s opinion on Mack Brown other than, “he is awesome” Mack Brown is a great recruiter, but I want to know what you guys think of him as a coach?
If I am going to sit here and tell you Tech is superior to Texas than that’s just hogwash. Texas Tech doesn’t have the tradition, money, endowment, etc. etc. that Texas has, but we do a darn good job with what we have; I not trying to tell you you guys suck, but I do hope to get my point across.
That is this: Most of the actual Texas students are pretty nice people, but some of the other fans are simply disrespectful and unknowledgeable about everything there is to be. Just hopefully you can sit back sometimes and show some respect to non Longhorn people. If you don’t want to then that’s fine, whatever.
See you guys later, God Bless

Huh?

Question:
I want to know what you guys think of him as a coach?
Answer:
115-26
Love Mack.
Reason:
As Dennis Green would say, you play to win the game. Whats not to like about an 82% win percentage coach? You do know what the winning percentage was of the Coaches before Brown right? Even DKR finished with 76%…

Cynical and self centered? Do you even know what that means? Or perhaps you just cant reply properly to posts, I guess that will come with practice.

Quick question

A lot was made from our “unimpressive” win over Ohio State, since we didn’t blow them out like we were expected to.

Would the Oklahoma we saw today blow out the Ohio State we saw in the Fiesta Bowl? How about Florida?

by goingforthecorner on Jan 8, 2009 11:58 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Your quick question...

the more I think about it, the more headache I have.. But all I care is, we’ve loaded 45 pts on OU but Gators only scored 24 pts. Plus, Gators played at the “almost” home-field advantage. But we beat OU at neutral field. Whether our win is “unimpressive” or not, we have done what Gators cannot do.. We’ve loaded up more scores on OU at the netural field.

Reminds me of an incident years ago...

I was in a bar in San Francisco in 1965, in Coast Guard bootcamp days. I ran into a woman from El Paso who remarked with a drunkin slur. “I’m from Texas and from where I come from, people don’t act like that!” referring to people of California I guess. But she made an ass of herself real quick. And no one wanted to be around her, including me.

Which Heisman QB Had a Heisman Performance in His Bowl?

Which Heisman QB Had a Heisman Performance in His Bowl?

UT’s Colt McCoy:

Passing
Texas Comp Att Yds Pct Y/A Sack YdsL TD Int
 C. McCoy 41 59 414 69.5 7.0 3 27 2 1
Rushing
Texas Rush Yds Avg Lng TD FumL
  C. McCoy 7 3 0.4 14 1 0

OU’s Sam Bradford & UF’s Tim Tebow:

Passing
Florida Comp Att Yds Pct Y/A Sack YdsL TD Int
 T. Tebow 18 30 232 60.0 7.7 0 0 2 2
Rushing
Rush Yds Avg Lng TD FumL
 T. Tebow 22 108 4.9 15 0 0

Oklahoma Comp Att Yds Pct Y/A Sack YdsL TD Int
 S. Bradford 26 41 257 63.4 6.3 2 18 2 2
Rush Yds Avg Lng TD FumL
S. Bradford 2 -18 -9.0 -4 0 0

Throw in the crucial 4th down conversions and dramatic winning scoring drive in the final minute, McCoy’s performance was better. It was Heisman-esque. Tebow was solid, but he didn’t have to deliver in as dramatic a fashion as McCoy. And this year’s Heisman winner was very pedestrian. He couldn’t deliver the goods when it mattered most.

What Mack and Bob have in common...

The common denominator between Mack Brown and Bob Stoops is memorable BCS games – everyone remembers Mack’s BCS bowl wins and everyone remembers Bob’s BCS bowl losses!

Night Y'all I am going to try to go to bed...

I am pumped about next year. It’s been a fun season, and a springboard to another run at the MNC in 2009.

Here's to Karma!!

UT beat Ohio State in such a way as to demonstrate how they should have handled Texas Tech!!

OU lost to Florida in a repeat demo of their lost to Texas by 10 points.

South dropped games

The Big XII South teams really dropped some big bowls. How did the North + Texas end up carrying the bowl wins for the conference…?

here's how...

How did the North + Texas end up carrying the bowl wins for the conference…?

OU was in a game they shouldn’t have been in, Dez Bryant got hurt, and the Cotton Bowl wasn’t played in Lubbock…
