Amazing that we won a BCS Bowl
and actually fell a spot in the poll. But if I take away my Texas affiliation, I have to say I understand it. Utah and SC were far more impressive in their victories than we.
Also, Texas Tech has got to be the lowest ranked 11-2 team I have ever seen (from a major conference of course).

Tech is still ranked too high
Dear AP voters: how do you rank a team below the team they so comprehensively demolished in their bowl game???

The year of the style points
The year college football stuck a fork in everything it claims to stand for…
screw ‘em all, The Longhorns are MY National Champions, and there’s not another team out there that can make a legitimate claim that they’re better.

doesn't matter..
i can’t wait for the ass-whipping that’s going to happen next year. mack better be out for some blood, but sadly, if he doesn’t have what it takes to vote us #1 in the coaches poll, i doubt it’ll happen.

This is the AP poll you guys, not the coaches’ poll.
Additionally, in the coaches’ poll, it doesn’t matter what the coaches actually vote after the MNC game. The poll automatically switches their vote to whomever won the MNC game.

Not true
Utah received 1 first place vote and looks as though it was their own coach, Kyly Whittingham.
Utah did receive one first-place vote in the coaches’ poll and finished fourth. Whittingham isn’t worried about losing his vote.

Utah's win over Alabama was impressive but really
look back at Alabama’s season. Who have they beaten? They won against Clemson who turned out to suck but still jumped 10 spots in the rankings with that win. Impressive first half against Georgia, who turned out to not be the #1 team everybody thought. Needed OT to beat a LSU team that turned out pretty mediocre. Lost to Florida. So really the only good win Alabama has was against Georgia. Alabama’s #1 ranking was basically determined by their wins over teams that severely underachieved given the teams’ preseason rankings. Thus Utah’s final #2 ranking was determined by beating a decent Alabama that played a pretty poor schedule who had wins over teams that were supposed to be national championship contenders but turned out to be mediocre. Follow that? Good because I mean to say Alabama is way overrated.
On another note I like how Ohio State moved up a spot in the rankings. I mean we barely beat them but I hate how people are saying the Buckeyes are runner ups in the Big 10. They are co-Big 10 champs as the Big 10 doesn’t have a conference championship game and both Penn State and Ohio State finished with 1 loss in conference. Just like how Arizona State was deemed co-Pac 10 champs even though they lost to USC (the other co-champ for those who didn’t know).

They are not Big 10 Co-Champs
What, does head to head no longer matter?
What kind of crazy football universe do we live in where head to head doesn’t matter!

I thought the head to head
just meant who gets to go to the Rose Bowl. I mean the Red Raiders are saying their team are Big 12 South Divisional Co-champions though their situation is slightly different than Ohio State’s and Penn State’s.

Just about everyones first tie breaker is head to head.
And the conference champ goes to the Rose Bowl.

What a crock
Zero respect. We flew under the radar up to the OU game. Beat a team everyone said we wouldn’t beat. Ran the gauntlet and lost in the last second of a game on the road by a fluke play. From then on everyone dismisses us and our quality wins in favor of building up a title game between Florida and OU. “The two best teams are playing” yet they’d also toss in “although Texas DID beat OU.” If the two best teams are playing then why bring up Texas? Because you know you can’t say with a straight face that the two best teams were gonna be in the BCS title game while you know without a shadow of a doubt that Texas should be there and not OU. Chokelahoma should have been playing and losing to Ohio State on Monday night and we should be watching highlights of Colt and crew in their hopeful win over Florida on Sportscenter right now.
Despite all the crap I was happy to see Colt break the completion record and to watch him put up 400+ on one of the very best pass defenses in college football.

Seriously
Why is every one freaking out. The only teams ahead of us really are:
1) An Unbeaten with a respectable SoS and
2) MNC winners
Its a virtual tie with us and USC.
Since when does anyone care what you finish in the polls anyway unless its #1?

I would like to hear his explanation though. I don’t have any problem with it. I actually admire him for keeping Florida at number 1.

But looking at your sig, it reminded me of this year. I have been telling my Father-in-Law, who I watch most games with, how great will it be to have Irby back next year; of course, assuming he’s healthy.

why??
Why is that ridiculous? Look at the final AP. USC crushed 3 of the top ten teams. Texas has one. Also after the bowl season, the Pac 10 proved itself much tougher than given credit for all season. The Big 12 not so much.
Personally, I think it’s a coin flip between Texas and SC. Either team is very deserving. Don’t see what’s so “ridiculous” about it.

Texas has a better win than any of USC’s, and its loss is clearly more respectable than USC’s embarrassing loss to Oregon State.

what???
Embarrassing loss? Oregon state finished #18 and the game was played AT Oregon State. Also do you realize Oregon state played 4 teams that finished in the top ten? Gee that is sooo embarrassing.
While your points may be true, everyone here at BON has harped all year about looking at the ENTIRE resume, not just two games like you pointed out. Against the 3 final top ten teams SC played, SC won by 32, 34, and 14 points respectively. In other words, all blow-outs. Against the 2 final top ten teams Texas played, Texas won by 10 and 3 repectively. Tell, me, which looks more dominant?
All I’m saying is that you can make a persuasive argument for both sides. Both teams ended up playing very respectable schedules and arguments can be made why either team should be #2. I just think your burnt orange colored glasses prevent you from seeing that.
