Sergio Kindle to return for his senior season...

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is great news for the defense next season, especially with the losses of Orakpo and Melton.

If Serg can improve upon his game some more he's going to be borderline unstoppable!

"Kindle, whose freshman and sophomore seasons were marred by injuries, returns to Austin with a list of lofty goals. He wants to help the Longhorns win a national championship, earn the Lombardi and Nagurski awards that graduating teammate Brian Orakpo claimed this season and establish himself as a first-round lock before leaving UT with a degree."

great news

I wonder if he should just move to DE full time? Worth it?

we need linebackers

more than we need DE’s. At LB, he gives Muschamp much more flexibility. The key, I suspect will be improving in pass coverage.

Awesome

It will be good to see what Muschamp can do with him through the offseason. I think he’s only scratched the surface. When he came out of nowhere the other night and chased down Pryor on the sideline, it made me think of how great he can be.

I was just thinking too if he should be tried at DE full time? His pass rushing and disruption is what he does best. That would allow Muck, Norton, and Keenan Robinson to man the LB positions.

It's not good enough

I want to hear from Muschamp to confirm that. But certainly, it’s a great news for our D since we’ve lost a few pass rushers like Orakpo/Miller/Melton.

i think

we need him to be able to fly around the field and make plays, being at linebacker allows him to do that. where as at end he is pretty much rushing the passer on every play.

This is the best recruiting job we did this year..... nt

I doubt he plays either end or sam, but does what he did this year: both. I think he plays a little more end in 2009 than in 2008, though, with Orakpo and Melton gone. I think he’ll be in a three-point stance for most passing downs, and standup linebacker in a base set. It’s more of the same for him, but I think he could stand to play a little more end.

Think he’ll be drafted as a 3-4 OLB in 2010?

2009

With us lacking a little at DT, any chance we run some 3-4 in 09? Sergio and K. Robinson at OLB, Muck and Norton at ILB? I know its a long shot, and don’t think we’d do it, but it could be interesting.

Not with Muschamp. It’s not Playstation, so it’s a lot harder to change scheme, especially with a coach who hasn’t shown a tendency to run the 3-4, even part-time.

I thought his dad wanted to make sure Sergio played LB before returning?

And to play all the time.

I think his future (and it's a bright one for sure...)

in the NFL will be as a pass rusher primarily – either a true DE or 3-4 linebacker, probably some mixture of that, kind of like here…

I’m betting the main reason he came back is to establish his credentials in that area and move up dramatically on the draft boards, and if that’s the case, I bet he sees a lot of DE.

Derrick Thomas did an awesome job in the falcon defense in KC. I think Kindle would be a very similar player.
