I guess Bradford is not progressing quite as well as Stoops would have us believe. Good thing Landry Jones is the next "greatest quarterback we've ever had at OU."

Good

It was too early in my mind. Glad to see Stoops not forcing him to play at 80% in a big game-hostile environment and letting him wait until next week to re-evaluate Sam. He should be ready for Baylor. Go Canes!

Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.

May not have been his call

Wasnt the trip to the specialist at the request of Bradford’s sports insurance policy? If so, their stake of millions may have more to say about it than ol’ Stoopsie.

Looks like OU will come into the RRR...

with two loses. This game will be close but OU will still lose. Probably not good for us.

don't speak so fast

the offense might be a question mark but that defense is legit. besides, i want them to lose and now you’re jinxing it.

don’t worry i took care of it

by acho81 on Oct 1, 2009 4:17 PM CDT up reply actions

They can still win

It’s a blow not having Bradford, but if they are going to win this game, it most likely will have to come from great defense with or without him.

With their O-Line, it shouldn't be too hard to rattle Landry

I hope the ’canes wipe the mustache right off his face

OU Defense

This is the key to the game. If OU shuts the ’Canes down anything close to what VT did, OU will win this game. For my take, OU has better athletes in skill positions and I want them to win this game and be ranked in top 10 coming to Dallas. I am not yet ready to beat up the OU line – this will be the fitrst test after BYU and we will know a lot more about the rest of their season after this game.

I think

we’ll still see Bradford against Miami. I think Stoops will want to see how he fares…especially if Landry has troubles.

I was just thinking about how OU will spin the loss to Texas…….
…..“well Bradford wasn’t 100% and Landry is still young.”

Yea whatever. It’s Thursday and OU……sucked yesterday, they suck today, and they will suck tomorrow.

Not if Bradford's insurance policy will be violated by him playing.

If that’s the reason he’s being kept out (i.e. he hasn’t gotten a completely clean bill of health and the policy requires that he have one before he plays again), then he’s not going to play.

Of course, who know if it actually says that or not or (if it does) whether Bradford would be willing to give up the policy for a chance to play.

by billyzane on Oct 1, 2009 4:38 PM CDT up reply actions

The insurance company gave him the OK

he is being kept out because he isn’t healthy enough. I guarantee we don’t see Bradford Saturday, I doubt he even dresses.

Wait, what kind of insurance company has lower standards than the OU staff?

Whoever it is, I have a hunch they’re going to need a bailout.

Can you provide a link? I’m genuinely perplexed at how a situation like you describe could arise.

The insurance company doesn't care if he plays

just that he doesn’t risk re-injuring his arm. If he played right now, there wouldn’t be any risk of re-injuring the shoulder (meaning it would be ok with the insurance company), but he isn’t playing at the level that the OU staff would feel comfortable with on Saturday night.

If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!

by circa1015 on Oct 1, 2009 6:39 PM CDT up reply actions

Um, the fanshot above?

It says they may use both quarterbacks, and that keeping him out of the game is the coaches decision, but he clearly could play if he wanted to. I don’t get why this is difficult to understand.

If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!

by circa1015 on Oct 2, 2009 2:08 PM CDT up reply actions

The article above does not say this
If he played right now, there wouldn’t be any risk of re-injuring the shoulder (meaning it would be ok with the insurance company), but he isn’t playing at the level that the OU staff would feel comfortable with on Saturday night.

There is a difference between a coach saying he has not ruled something out and the insurance company saying he is cleared to play.

by Wells on Oct 2, 2009 3:01 PM CDT up reply actions

But if him playing would violate the terms of the policy

then why the hell would Stoops be having this discussion with anybody? Certainly if he wasn’t cleared to play then that would be the end of the discussion, and the head coach wouldn’t have to come out and talk about if Bradford is or isn’t playing how they want him to, because that would be completely irrelevant. Trust me, medically, the threat of exacerbating an injury goes away before the pain does. I assume the trip to see Dr. Andrews was for the insurance company to get confirmation about the progress Bradford had made.

If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!

Well That's too bad

It would have been better for us if OK won so we could beat them for our SOS. They’ll probably get killed in Miami.

In-VINCE-able.

by kriess on Oct 2, 2009 7:08 AM CDT up reply actions

Dumb Question.....well maybe.

Is it possible that OU could be haboring Bradford to prep him for UT? I mean, I know he’s injured but OU is very capable of exagerating the injury. They’ve been shady in the past. I suppose that’s a possibility and it’s crossed my mind.

by AZUTFAN on Oct 1, 2009 11:26 PM CDT up reply actions

I think it's more about the success Landry Jones has had

If Jones had struggled against Tulsa then I could see Stoops pushing to have Bradford start against Miami. Landry Jones seems to be capable enough and if I’m Stoops and Bradford isn’t at 100% then I’d take my chances of starting Jones than risking Bradford hurting himself even more. That and Bradford not being completely healthy could hurt OU more than it could help.

by seth78 on Oct 2, 2009 1:45 AM CDT up reply actions

I will be Bradford plays

even if he doesn’t “start”. I don’t trust Stoops to be honest about this (or anything else).

by Ohio Horn on Oct 2, 2009 9:57 AM CDT reply actions

Miami wins by less than 3 pts....

Then we crush ou…I want them utterly dismantled and out of discussion.

by orangetower on Oct 2, 2009 10:01 AM CDT reply actions

Broyles’ hands are going to be hurting from all the quick passes he’ll be fed against Miami. From what I’ve seen, Miami’s line doesn’t look particularly nasty, but they have good, strong athletes who should hold up well against the run.

I really do think OUsucks wins, but I sure hope they don’t.

by burntorangehorn on Oct 2, 2009 10:20 AM CDT reply actions

OU

I will not feel comfortable until the final second has ticked off the clock at the cotton bowl in two weeks.

I look forward to seeing how OU performs Saturday night. I haven’t seen them play yet this year, but the defense appears stout. Saturday will tell the tale. I still see OU winning at Miami.

by brownf on Oct 2, 2009 1:59 PM CDT reply actions

That’s right. Right now, OU is undefeated in conference play, and beating them head-to-head is UT’s top thing to accomplish.

by burntorangehorn on Oct 3, 2009 7:59 AM CDT up reply actions

I could be misinterpreting this, but “out” usually means a player will not even put on pads for the game. In this case, I don’t think Bradford will. I don’t think insurance is even much of a part of that, either.
