Sam Bradford could go pro...

This may be one of the funniest things I have ever seen: http://tauntr.com/content/bradford-go-pro

It got me wondering just what Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford will be doing professionally - since it's probably not going to be football. He's a finance major, but I wouldn't be shocked if he ended up in the bar or restaurant business feeling miserable about himself every Sunday when he's watching Colt McCoy play. What do you think?

Hating on OU...

…the institution, the team as a whole, the coaches, the state, living in the state, its citizenry, and all of those types of things, I think, are fair game.

But I think the type of hate that this post is going for is a little crass. You didn’t ask for my opinion, but there it is.

TXinDC

I get what you’re saying, this might be a little more your speed for hating on OU: http://tauntr.com/content/sooner-fan-flash-cards

Sam Bradford

is an excellent quarterback, I don’t know what you’re getting at.

by ryanlionrah on Oct 15, 2009 12:16 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I don’t think Bradford’s nearly as good as the #1-overall projection many people have made, but I think he’ll stick around in the NFL for no less than five years, barring injury.

by burntorangehorn on Oct 15, 2009 12:36 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

True. Heck, even if he were the 32nd pick and signed a deal only marginally better than what Hood got last season, he’d get more than $6M just for the first season.

Really, the capital gains from $6M would be enough to live extremely well, even if it were just in savings accounts at 3%.

3% = MSA

Mythical Savings Account

by utexas87 on Oct 15, 2009 2:17 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not when you have $6M to invest. At that point your banking options, particularly outside the USA, are much broader. It’s simply not practical for lenders of that ilk to consider extending their services to plebs like us, though.

Check 30 year yields on T-Bills

http://www.ustreas.gov/offices/domestic-finance/debt-management/interest-rate/yield.shtml. Alls you have to do is ladder 30-yr. treasuries. Or you could go with a blend of high-quality municipal bonds/corporate bonds. For somebody Bradford’s age, one would recommend a mix of current income producing securities as well as long-term growth equities.

This definitely regressed into something too nerdy/snobby for OU hate week. You might want to check on the clip cooper article on barkingcarnival to see some similarities.

Funniest thing you've ever seen?

Nov 9th 2009? Was that the punchline? “no” on football? Man, don’t google “Back the f%$# up, It’s time for some m^&@f%$^ing grapes” cause you might die laughing.

by bevoluble on Oct 15, 2009 1:09 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Sam Bradford was walking away from the podium after the Sooners’ news conference yesterday in Norman when he was asked if he would like to duplicate the four-year career that his good friend Colt McCoy has enjoyed at Texas.

“I don’t know,” Bradford replied. “Maybe.”

Also don’t read Pollock’s Masterpiece on Lamebook.

Sam should be a solid NFLer

Landry Jones, on the other hand, could go pro in a certain film industry.

Only for the 'stache

He’d probably need a stand-in for everything else. Except for the sucking. Which he’ll master at OU.

Ouch. C’mon. That was below the belt….

Come on Peeps

I think that the idea was that he’s about one recurrence of shoulder injury away from being demoted to Big Red Auto. Not that he can’t sling a ball; the NFL just generally doesn’t pay big bucks to risky players.

by Tackchevy on Oct 15, 2009 2:20 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Plus, it’s hate week. Immunity from charges of poor taste all around!

by burntorangehorn on Oct 15, 2009 2:23 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I would think the shoulder injury would also hinder his prospects as a burger flippper.

Bradford . . .

. . . seems to get as much respect around these parts as one could possibly imagine an OU QB ever receiving from a bunch of Horns. Is it Colt’s friendship with Bradford which made it OK for us to admit that Bradford isn’t necessarily evil incarnate (even if the school he attends is)? And I wonder if the opposite is also true: do Sooner fans not hate on Colt as much as one would guess given that well-publicized friendship?

Oh, and OU sucks.

Each of them spent 15min. minimum with Tim Tebow, and they’re the better for it.

As much as they hate Texas,

they love Ship. At least the red-necks up here in hell do.

We're Texas...and you're NOT

It’s because although they don’t see the fishing pole itself as all that integral to the process of fishing, they do respect Jordan’s angling ability.

He hasnt done anything really to warrant any other reaction

I mean, hes an Oklahoma hometown kid who went to go play for the big state school. Hes been media neutral, and by all accounts is a stand up dude.

Now if he flashes an upside down horns on TV, or writes an essay on how Texas is bad, or is found to have been paid to play, Im sure we will shit on him like we do the rest.

But its not necessarily a bad thing to not have complete blind hatred right?

Dont get me wrong, I hope he loses every game by a bajillion points, but its nothing personal.

I don’t know, man. I was pretty pissed off by his on-field interview following the Big 12 “championship” game last year. He said they deserved to be there, and that their performance in that game proved those who said otherwise wrong.

by burntorangehorn on Oct 16, 2009 8:55 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

No, I felt that he shouldn’t have stoked the controvery any more than had already happened, but he did.

by burntorangehorn on Oct 16, 2009 12:24 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

and he smirked

when asked before the game about why they deserved to go ahead of Texas and said they were “the hot team right now.” i thought: wow, stoops has turned a generally decent kid into a smug punk who brags about backing into the big xii title game…again.

I don't hate Colt.

(although that picture of him in the helmet with no facemask was so wrong). I think most reasonable Sooners feel the same.

What is this

Bradford would be stupid not to go pro. Dude has amazing talent. Though he should play for the UFL or the CFL. LOL
