What about Shipley?
I am apologizing in advance because this will not have enough words but here goes. There is a lot of talk about Colt for the Heisman but nothing about Shipley - I think he deserves to at least be in the conversation and would like to hear what others think.

Um, yeah, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that....
I don’t disagree with your evaluation of Shipley as a Heisman candidate, I just think there is LOTS of talk about it this week. If you wrote this post last week, I’d agree. However, this week I’ve actually seen Ship as a top 5 candidate on CNNSI, as well as seen Stewart Mandel write an article building up him and Gilyard’s case. Plus, the locals (Statesman, Geoff Ketchum, etc.) have been running with that story all week.
I think what works most in Shipley’s favor is that he gets those extra touches and highlight opportunities as a returner, and even as a holder. Can’t wait to see him bust another field goal fake! : )
I don’t think he’ll win, but I’d be thrilled to see him find a way to make it to NYC.
I'd be all for another field goal fake by Shipley
Just as long as I don’t have to hear “Shipley looked like an airplane not a ship.”
I suppose...
…I should have said “not nearly as much” instead of “nothing”. My bad. I’m sure everyone also realizes it’s been 18 years since a WR has won the Heisman (1991 – Desmond Howard) and 8 of the last 10 have been QB.

Am I the only one who thinks he is making our team worse?
It is not any of his fault, but I think that if he was removed from our offense then we would actually be much more balanced and efficient. We’ve already seen this season that Colt has a huge tendency to ignore the correct read in order to force the ball to Shipley. If he was removed from the field, I think Colt would be more inclined to actually find the open receiver. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for the kid, whose given nothing but his full effort to the program, but because his quarterback hasn’t learned how to trust the other receivers yet, he might as well wear a sign over his uniform that says “the ball is coming here!”. I’m curious how our offense would function if he was benched, because then the opposing defense would be forced to account for everybody else.
If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!
Umm I don't think so.
Have you seen OU’s offense without Gresham? That makes absolutely no sense. Take away our best receiver in hopes of our other receivers stepping up. In case you haven’t noticed, but Shipley can catch the ball when the defender is draped all over him.
Colt hasn’t learned to trust his other receivers because they haven’t made enough plays.
Colt's issue
I think Texas messed up when they moved all the WR around. They should of kept everyone where they were last year and tried to replace Cosby. Instead, you have everyone learning new positions and the coaches trying to keep Colt healthy by telling him not to rum against inferior teams.

Every qb has a favorite receiver
Colt is no different. Taking Shipley out of the picture completely would only hurt us.
Shipley is the only one deserving so far
but I think the case for McCoy (not his brother) will be made tomorrow. Still a lot of football to be played.
