colt's such a good teammate
he was trying his best not to throw goodwin under the bus on the interception.

still would have preferred cody in that situation
but was delighted to see Goodwin on the field for critical snaps.

I think today confirmed my suspicion
That our receivers, while they may be talented, are not far enough along on learning the reads yet and that has been hurting us, and Colt, more than we thought. Maybe the “Good Colt, Bad Colt” scenarios have more to do with the receivers than with Colt.

maybe… you have to admit that colt’s throws haven’t always been the most catchable passes this year. he was throwing really high the first few weeks resulting iin some volleyball set INTs… very similar to today where he tried to hit shipley, reliable shipley, on an underneath route and shipley almost pops it up for an INT

Colt's passes...
were not always the best last year either. The receivers (Quan, Shipley, and OB) just inhaled anything thrown their way, and made a lot of catches of passes that would normally be incomplete.
Unfortunately, we’re just not there yet as an offense. But like Colt and Mack mentioned, there are indications of good things to come, it’s just a matter of putting together a complete game on offense.

Yesterday made me realize
Just how much we miss Quan Cosby this year. It’s been gnawing at me all season so far, but yesterday, when we played a really good defense for the first time, it hit home: Quan was a huge part of our success last year and no one’s come close to filling that void. Shipley’s doing all he can, but defenses are just locking him up.
The emergence of Goodwin in the second half was the most encouraging development going forward from yesterday’s game. But even with that, the kid’s still just a kid and not a 25 (26?) year-old senior like Quan.
I miss Quan. I know we have to let these guys go after 4-5 years, but I really didn’t want him to leave.
Friends may come and go, but enemies accumulate.

the most ecouraging thing to me was the flashes of potential in the running game. The use of movement presnap to get our run going, Fozzy being effective (enough) from the shotgun, and Colt keeping the ball on several plays. Colt usually doesn’t fumble running like he did, so I can easily over look that one play.
2 things have to happen though:
1) we have to keep calling those runs and letting colt be an option
2) the line has to stop killing us. If they aren’t going to block people, they need to at least not get penalites. If you tack on the loss of the yards gained on those plays, I bet the penalty yards go from 100 to 200. I can think of at least 3 drive killing (unecessary) holds/chops on runs.
