Everyone Relax!

I know how frustrating it is with all the bullshit how all the analysts jump on the SEC, Florida/Alabama bandwagon. Believe me I listened to Danielson yesterday and read Forde's column this morning and they are completely bias towards the SEC. The problem for them is that they do not and are not looking at the big picture. The SEC has one huge problem, they better keep an eye on more than just one undefeated team outside of the SEC.

I was having fun playing this scenario out in my head last night while watching this supposed Hokie team with one loss that was suppose to be ahead of Texas in the BCS mock standings get manhandled by Georgia Tech's triple option (I really miss the wishbone somedays) and send them to a second loss and out of the national championship conversation. First off Texas just needs to win out, I do not care if the rest look like yesterdays or if they all look like the UTEP game (well ok I admit I hope the rest of the games do look like what the Longhorns did to UTEP) either way if the Longhorns win out they win the Big 12, they are in the national championship game because no matter what, Alabama will have to play Florida in the SEC championship game if both go undefeated, one of them still has to lose and a one loss SEC team will not jump an undefeated Texas team.

Now here is where the fun can come in, what if one of those two gets upset, more than likely it will be Florida because they have not been impressive either and they really can thank the refs for bailing them out of yesterdays game. Now lets say Florida still gets to the SEC championship game with one loss to face an undefeated Alabama team and that one loss undefeated team beats the undefeated Alabama team, oh wait it gets better. There is an undefeated Iowa team sitting at #3 and an undefeated Cincinatti (How the hell do you spell that damn city/school?) at #4. UH-oh the SEC is completely out of the National Championship picture all together and we all tell Danielson and the rest of the ESPN SEC homers to shove it straight up their asses.

I know there is still a lot of season left to play and god knows the college football world has been a wacky weird one for the past three seasons with no ranked team safe. Hey is everyone still bitching about the performance against Colorado. Go ask the Ohio State University how it feels to lose to a 1-5 team or for that matter a Kansas team that was the front runner in the Big 12 North who lost to that very same 1-4 team that pissed us off last weekend. If the season ended today we would be facing Kansas State in the Big 12 championship game, yes Kansas State the team that had to come from behind and beat UMASS at home.

Texas just needs to concentrate on the task at hand and right now that is a tough game up in Columbia next Saturday against a good Missouri team. Texas wins out the analyst cannot say a damn thing, and remember their vote does not count. The AP poll is not part of the formula so they can say everything they want, they do not matter one bit at all. So everybody just relax and lets concentrate on next weekend.

Just win, baby!

Al Davis’ present mental state notwithstanding, he couldn’t have been more correct when he coined that phrase many years ago. Win, and all of your problems are solved — if you’re Texas, not Boise State.

I’m glad someone else noticed the bailout job that the refs did for Florida on that last drive. I have no sympathy for the piggies (and never will), but they deserved better than that. If you’re just going to serve it up to Florida anyway, why play the game? Florida might have found a way to win without the help of the officials. It’s possible.

A helpful hint on spelling Cincy: I always break it down like this — 2 "cin"s and a “nati”
cin-cin-nati

I don't know about Florida coming back without a little help.

The network put up a statistic that Tebow was 1-5 coming into the game when trailing in the second half.

Yep, 2 clearly botched calls in a row

If Switzer gets wind of this, he’ll just call it “Gator Magic”

Thanks.

We’re Texas. I’m tired of the bitching and moaning on this site about SEC bias or absurd scenarios in which a 1 loss USC will jump Texas and get into the MNC. Win and we’re in – the rest will solve itself when we win in Pasadena.

Why is it bitchin an moaning when it can absolutely affect Texas

Texas can get passed by a 1 loss SEC team if the voters rank them higher than Texas. It’s that simple. We’re Texas meant how much last year?

Sorry my friend, but you are wrong

There is no way a one loss Sec team jumps an undefeated Texas team, they would not jump an undefeated Iowa of CIncy team. You wanna know why? Because they are out of the big 6. Boise St. would be jumped, but not a big 6 conference team and as long as Florida, Alabama, Texas, Iowa, and Cincy keep winning, it will eventually be a log jam at the top of the standings. If things keep going the way they are, it will be Florida, Bama, Texas, Iowa, and the Bearcats in the top 5, not USC or any other one loss team. The only reason why Iowa and Cincinati are sitting where they are is because one started the season not ranked and the other fell out of the rankings when they had to block two field goals to beat Northern Iowa.

Last year we got screwed because of the computers, not the coach’s poll. Remember that little win Oklahoma had over Cincinati last year? That is what doomed the Longhorns and then because of the gay tie-breaker rule the Big 12 has is what hurt the Longhorns. If Texas had been in any other conference they would have won the tie-breaker and played for the conference championship. So thanos before you post on here, why don’t you do a little investigatory work before you start bitching and moaning.

The next up and coming Longhorns QB!

Plus ...

Complaining about such scenarios two months before the end of the season is completely pointless. What exactly is the point, other than to make Texas fans look paranoid?

i'm not your friend so don't address me as one especially when you close like a dick

We’re Texas is hubris and nothing else. it’s one of the reasons we don’t get benefit of the doubt. if we are Texas meant much, then Florida and Oklahoma would not have jumped us last year. it can impact the BCS standings depending where they end up ranking.

There was a time when it was fun to post at this site and have real discourse but man this blog has been taken over by so many psuedo aristocrats its crazy.

its unfortunate because there is so much rich information that is put up here.

pseudo aristocrats keep you from having real discourse?

He did close like a jerk, but you are wrong. A 1-loss SEC team does not pass an undefeated Big 12 Champion Texas. Particularly when that loss is likely to come in the last game of the season, where the human voters would drop that team 4-5 spots and make such a leap impossible.

Sorry you don’t like the site anymore though.

fair enough

is it likely or probable, no? If Florida and Alabama crushed the rest of their opponents and we continue to “sneak by”, it wouldn’t surprise me to see an SEC rematch if the championship game was a classic.

That did not happen

When Ohio State and Michigan played a close final game at #1 and #2.

Again, true. But, Big 10 vs SEC? I think you will see some momentum for this , for example:

Also, if the huskers took care of TT it would have been a non-issue...

But they did not, and OU did beat Cincy and every other conference would have reverted back to the head to head of the two highest ranked teams…the Big XII does not and still did not make that change this year. Morons. And you were a little harsh on thanos…we’re Horns fans…show some love.

Also ...

we lost last year. I was bitter about it too, but it was out loss that allowed us to get screwed. Texas in completely in control of its own destiny this year. If we lose this year, we don’t deserve to get into the MNC anyway.

Florida has one loss as well last year but higher public opinion kept them ranked higher. my only point

Everyone's problem is the system is subjective...

A team should not have to be perfect to play for the MNC…which one loss team is most deserving? This type of scenario is VERY realistic. Thanos…I believe you were referring to how one loss teams were ahead of UT last year…all had a loss except Utah…who has a legit bitch to this day as they smoked (albeit a dejected Bama team) in the Sugar Bowl.

Let the dopes like Buchanon write their garbage...

…and let UT take whatever opponent shows up for the BCS championship game by surprise. The best team ever, 2009 edition, can feel free to take the ego-stroking to heart. Meanwhile, Texas is going to continue to win, and re-establish its offensive identity in the process.

+1

I would love to come into the MNC as underdogs. Let the talking heads keep stroking the SEC.
