Concern about mizzou?

What are people's realistic thoughts / concerns about mizzou? I have seen them score alot and move the ball with ease, and then I have seen them get shut down. I know they will "bring it" early against us in their house. The fans will be nuts and the team will want to exact revenge from last years game in Austin. I hope we can maintain focus on this game and not live in hte ou moment or worry about osu. We cant have a screw up- this is a big trap game in my book. Starting to get concerned.

Things will be OK if....

1. GD continues to call the misdirection running plays and mixes speed (Fozzy) with power (Cody).
2. Colt doesn’t lock in on Shipley every play
3. Colt doesn’t lock in on the slant to Goodwin
4. Colt throws six balls to Malcolm Williams, and especially if two of those are deep
5. Tackling by the corners and safeties along the boundary improves.
6. Muschamp blitzes a lot less than he did against OU.

only thing i'd disagree with is the blitzes

thou shalt not criticize Muschamp, the D hath not failed us

and you can add if Colt’s thumb isnt an interception problem

Muschamp Has Carte Blanche

Remember when we said last year “just wait ’til next year”? Next year is now this year and I have seen and I believe. I leave with this…“just wait ’til next year”

Our D-Line should be able to penetrate plenty so that we won't need to blitz much of our back seven.

Pressure their QB early and often

Their starting QB Blaine Gabbert injured his ankle when N. Suh from Nebraska landed on it. It is a bad sprain and he has hobbled since. Their back-up QB, Blaine Dalton was kicked off the team this past summer and they don’t really have another option at present. Pinkel still called option plays the last 2 weeks???

Only in this regard...

I don’t want a hangover from the OU game to affect them. It’s up to the coaches to make sure that does not happen, and I think they will get them through it. Columbia and Stillwater are both potentially dangerous places if their heads are not on straight.

Play like you mean it...

Mack Brown is undefeated after OU

if I remember correctly. I doubt it will be a problem.

If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!

Just a thought.

I don’t know the specific number, but i’m pretty sure UT’s record after OU has been pretty dominate.

Not worried....

it’s the next game on halloween night that will have me concerned.

by silky51 on Oct 20, 2009 10:10 AM CDT reply actions

Should not be worried but..............

Watching college football this year is a lesson in never taking any game for granted. We are on the road, playing at night and up against a Missouri team that CANNOT lose this game to stay in the Big 12 North race – 2 losses already.

I expect them to throw everything at us and yes, we do have the better team and better athletes and expect Texas to win convincingly against the Paper Tigers.

Oct. 31st will be a battle, especially if Bryant is back for Okie Light. Any feedback on this?

Gundy commented yesterday in his press conference....

that he is expecting an announcement on Dez’s status this week from the NCAA. So apparantly he’s been alerted that some kind of decision on how much longer Dez will be out is looming.

I WAS concerned...

…before the last two weeks. Their gimpy QB and questionable offense doesn’t have me concerned anymore. If we don’t beat them by high double digits, I’m going to be disappointed.

In-VINCE-able.

Plus it was not like our Offense has been lights out...

…and will go into this game all cocky. They got major work to do and I think they know that.

In-VINCE-able.

Since the ankle injury...

Gabbert is 34-for-79 (43.0%), 428 yards (5.4 per pass), 1 TD, 5 INT (from Rock M Nation). I know Gabbert and Mizzou will give it 100% against us and pull out all of the stops, but the physical limitations of a hobbled Gabbert versus our D line cannot be understated.

And Suh had his way with them.

The Nebraska tackle did what he wanted with Mizzou. He may be All American, but the collective group of our D-line dwarfs the Huskers offering this year. We really should get all the pressure we need with 4 guys. Blitz occasionally to keep them off balance, but we should dominate the los.

DOMINATION

This is Texas chance to dominate early and often all FOUR quarters. If they falter and stumble against Mizzou it might get ugly in Stillwater the following week.

My concern about Mizzou?

Is after we take out Bradford one week, the gimpy Zou QB this week, will Z. Robinson of OSU go running or “come down with the flu” to avoid facing our front four?

Good Colt, Bad Colt

I don’t want any excuses: No head colds, no thumb injuries, no in-grown toenails. NADA-ZILCH.

I want results: running or passing, I don’t care. No turnovers, good judgment, accurate passes, good communication………Why do I hear Janet Leigh screaming at me???
