Winning Ugly = Champions?
I've been considering all the talk about "Ugly Wins". First: isn't that kind of an oxymoron? isn't winning all that matters? who cares about a pretty loss?
Maybe winning ugly is a GOOD thing? After all, there have been plenty of champions who played ugly. Teams that win in ugly fashion, normally win games with out doing what they do best. They find a way to win and having won in that manor before, believe they can win any game no matter how UGLY they are playing.
Bowl games are often won in ugly fashion. There are weeks off and teams dedicate their game plan to stopping their opponent from what they do best, and visa versa, creating an UGLY game. Blow outs are mostly because one team was more effective with their game plan and the other team forgot to get off the bus. (CHOKELAHOMA!)
So here is to winning ugly, and being UNDEFEATED. (yay, I've managed to convince myself that I'm not worried!)

All these “style point” discussions are spawned by an inane BCS approach rather than a playoff. Forces a “beauty contest” and encourages poor sportsmanship.
Notre Dame had a pretty loss this weekend.
They get one of these against USC every once and while…last time they had one Texas won the Championship, just one more thing we can compare to that 2005 season.
Anyways, you have a great point.
"I don't ever miss free throws. I'm like 100-percent from the free throw line. I just don't think about missing and if you think about missing you're going to miss. I just take my time and know I'm going to make it and I do," McClellan said.
Florida won UGLY...but they won...with a little help...ok, a lot of help.

Another issue with style points:
Reputation. Because Texas has earned a rep for winning ugly, under achieving, etc, any thing but a blow out (even our UTEP win doesnt get any props and UTEP beat Houston a BCS Buster Darling)
But not Florida… NOOOO
they are in the SEC! Thats smashmouth football!! Grid Iron Greatness!
WHAT A JOKE. if Texas gets robbed and gets skipped on the NCG by a 1-loss SEC team and an undefeated SEC team im going to go puke on Aminul Hoque (BCS Pres.)

Outlawed terms:
“style points”
“control their own destiny”
“Greg Davis”
“Altitude”
“Flu/Cold”
“BCS voters”

There… now let’s talk about our wins in a civilized manner. I bet OU wished they were 6-0 instead of 3-3.
I like all of those being outlawed except
Greg Davis.

I think its mostly due to our insecurity, thats all.
Deep down no one cares about an ugly win, but they worry what it means for the next game, or two games from now.
