Texas v TCU in the national championship game
OK so I know it won't happen. But after watching a lot of games the past few weeks, I would say that Florida will lose, Alabama will lose, Boise state won't but who cares, USC will remain a one loss team but will not impress anyone and Cincy has lost their quarterback. They may keep winning but they will not win as impressively as TCU's victory over BYU. BYU with their strong defense stuffed OU(sux) and couldn't touch TCU. TCU may be the second best undefeated team in the country and deserve a chance to play Texas for the championship.

Maybe you're right
But you forgot about Iowa. They’re a horse hair away from losing every week, but if they continue to win, they’re going to slide under the radar and be the first team not named Texas to benefit from a Florida and Bama rocky finish.

Perhaps. But they have to get by Ohio State in Columbus
Really though after watching them play, no one believes they are a better team than TCU.

Disagree
If you are saying that TCU is better than both Alabama and Florida. I always root for TCU as long as they aren’t playing Texas, but I don’t think a non-BCS conference team should ever play for a national championship, unless the next best option is a 3-loss BCS team. It would simply be unfair to all the teams in the power conferences who have to play teams fielding top-level talent every week to allow a team into the NCG who merely had to get through the MWC. I hope TCU wins out and gets the BCS bowl berth that they have deserved for years, but the National Championship is for the big boys.

Easy to say but
I would worry more about playing TCU than either Alabama or Florida. Both teams have shown the past few weeks that they are beatable. TCU romped over a team that played OU as closely as Texas played OU.

Mountain West in pullups
Mountain West is too big boy. Almost potty trained. Only BCS can’t see this.
If TCU wins out and doesn’t make NC game I’d really like to see them play Fla/Ala/USC/PennSt. No more TCU-BoiseSt and no TCU-Cinn. They deserve a shot at a big name program like Utah got last year.

Forget Pasadena
They could just move the national championship to Jerry World to save everybody the trip.

Won't happen?
It could. If it they win out and all those factors play out, then I think it should. I completely disagree with circa1015 – unfair? the big boys? That’s what’s wrong with the BCS. We saw that with Utah last year – they stood a chance at FL and could have taken OU. TCU is more than capable of at least competing with any team right now.
It is all speculation and does us no good now (i know, acho81), but it’s fun to talk about. Your scenario could happen if: Bama and FL lose in reg season and one more for one in SEC champ game / Iowa loses to OSU / USC keeps cutting it close or loses (OR?) / Texas wins out.
TCU has proven they are worthy. It would infuriate me if USC or LSU got there instead because they are in a “big boy” conference.

I completely agree
It is because of the BCS that I have to say that. I’m absolutely a proponent of a playoff so that teams from lesser conferences who get ranked highly have a chance to show that they are the best in the country. They can do that by winning in a playoff format, but I don’t think they should get a free pass into the NCG in the current system just by going undefeated.

free pass
Yeah, we kind of are saying the same thing, but I would not see a TCU undefeated as a free pass. I think the jump over Boise St is very accurate for that reason. To me, BSU has no business being in the NCG due to their lack of schedule – despite the curiosity of how they would handle a TX, AL or FL, etc. TCU plays every one they can in their weaker conference (not great but better than WAC), and they do it big.
Until we get the playoff, I think TCU should get a look if they win out – especially if they are the only undefeated team at season’s end.
