UT Volleyball faces Judgment Week
The Gazelles are facing the most challenging part of the Big 12 schedule beginning this Wednesday at College Station. If they can get wins against A&M, Nebraska and Iowa State in their next 3 matches, they will likely be able to cruise to an outright Big 12 title, go undefeated in Big 12 play, and possibly receive the overall #1 seed for the NCAA tournament. Winning 2 of 3 will probably be enough to get the outright conference title and only slightly impact the chance of getting one of the #1 seeds.
WEDNESDAY: The Gazelles will face the Aggies in College Station for a 7pm match. The match will be broadcast on ESPNU. For those going to the match, be aware that the Aggies have left the building! G. Rollie White no longer plays host to volleyball, the Ags have moved to Reed Arena where the basketball teams play. The Aggies were undefeated in the new digs, until unranked Oklahoma came in last Wednesday night and swept the 21st ranked Aggies. A&M has had a week off to prepare for the Horns. Texas swept A&M in Austin earlier this year.
FRIDAY: The Gazelles return to the friendly confines of Gregory Gym to host the Cornhuskers for a 6pm match. This match will be broadcast on FSN. Earlier this season, Texas took down Nebraska in Lincoln 3-1. The first win in Lincoln since 1988, the last time Texas won a national championship. Tickets are going fast for this one so get yours now if you plan to go. Ticket info.
NEXT WEDNESDAY: The gauntlet finishes with a trip to Ames, Iowa where the team in second place in the Big 12 awaits. This match will be Texas' toughest remaining challenge. More challenging than A&M @ College Station and Nebraska at home. The Cyclones also beat Nebraska in Lincoln 3-2.

So what's the word on Ashley
We really need her to play to win these 3 crucial matches. Michelle will be our next great setter, but Ashley is the piece of the puzzle that gets us the National Championship this year.

Another sweep
The Gazelles continue to dominate at the net, out-blocking the Aggies 10-5 and sweeping them 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 in front of the biggest crowd to ever watch volleyball in College Station. Ashley was back at Setter and all is right in the world as Texas prepares for the Huskers.

The Game of the Season is this weekend
… not just on the football field, but in Gregory Gym as well.
The Gazelles put their undefeated season on the line against the #5 Huskers, who are always a very dangerous team even though this has been a bit of a down year for them. Just like the Cowboys, a win over Texas would make Nebraska’s season. A win for Texas gives them their longest unbeaten streak ever. And locks up the conference crown. Best way to prep for the Game of the Season, Part Two tomorrow.
Have you got anything better to do on a Friday night in Austin?
When asked about the raucous crowds, senior setter Ashley Engle remarked, “The crowd was unreal. That is why we come to Texas. They were so supportive. When you get a kill it’s great, but when the crowd just erupts and you can’t even hear yourself think, it’s the best feeling. I don’t know if it’s the same anywhere else.”
Go. Be loud. And watch the Gazelles make history.

The dream continues
Texas swept Nebraska 25-22, 26-24, 25-19 at Gregory last night, marking the first time the Gazelles have ever swept the season series against the Huskers, and setting a new Texas record for consecutive regular season wins. With her sixth double-double of the season, Destinee Hooker may very well have taken the lead in the National Player of the Year race as well. Nice way to start a huge weekend for Horns fans.
