ESPN comment rant...

Why is it that only idiotic people, who almost know nothing about College Football, or UT football for that matter trash talk so heavily on Tim Griffin's ESPN posts?

Star-divide

Let me first state, that I am in no way an expert or great analyst like Peter Bean, or any of the great writers of BON, but I do know enough to know that people are just completely moronic in some of these posts.  Take for instance Tim's write up here... Zac Robinson on Texas D knocking out opposing QB's

Now, I am a fan of Tim Griffin and his writing.  I think he is fair with all the Big 12 schools, and their coverage.  Grant it, there are things I do disagree with, but overall I appreciate his analysis.  At the bottom of the post, you'll find where people can comment on Tim's post.  It is unbelievable what people will say in trash talk.   In this particular smattering of Comments, UT was compared to UGA...Friggin UGA!  How the hell does that happen? This is not the only place I have seen it.  The disdain for Texas is generally just downright hateful, and generally completely false.  I don't get it.  I might be wearing Burnt Orange shaded glasses, but why all the hate?

Thank God for BON and Fellow Horn fans!

you mean like

commenters here claiming Stoops forces players to play hurt (Bud Kilmer style I believe was the reference) with absolutely zero proof to the fact. Would that happen to fall under your definition of “completely false?”

If you're not hated by someone...

Then you aren’t worth a damn. It’s best to just chuckle at the sportsnation comments.

Case in Point

“osu has a far better running game than Mizzou and Zac Robinson is a great QB and even better accuracy when he gets time. Robinson is battle tested so the Horns will have to give many looks to confuse him. If anything the argument can be made that the Horns have HAD MORE LOSSES than from last season than the Pokes even without Dez Bryant.
Horns have more talent but it is in Stillwater, (a burial ground for contenders) and Gundy’s biggest game ever that he has prepared for since mid-spring last year—- this is their NC game, they should undefeated right now! Gundy will have some tricks, schemes never before seen….. Horns will be surprised, they had better keep their focus and jump all over them. "

Griffin frequently gets things wrong

He always has some kind of error in his work. Most recently, it was his assertion that Texas is approaching our first Big 12 title. Stuff like that makes me lose interest in anything else he might have to say. If you’ve been covering the Big 12 as long as he has and you don’t know we’ve won 2 conference titles, then your opinion on subjective issues means zilch to me.

I have noticed those are getting worse as well.

I mean I get it… You trash talk to get a rise out of opposing Team fans…but damn…If you’re gonna do it…at least be correct in your knowledge…

I do think its kinda funny....

The title of the article is “Robinson Not Fazed by Texas KO Streak of Rival QBs”, I dont think that any of the QBs, (except Bradford) where at all fazed or in any way hurt going into the game. If I were Robinson, I wouldnt be fazed before the game, but, I would be very worried about being fazed during the game

Has anyone noticed the new Anti McCoy smeer?

I have seen it a lot lately that people are talking about what a great Actor Colt is on late hits…

If anyone thinks he's a good actor...

Wait till they get a look at this punter I know from Norman…

The thing I don't understand about those comments is that they often come on helmet to helmet hits.

It’s not like Colt is moving his head to get hit by the defender’s helmet, he just doesn’t move to not take the hit. If it never results in an injury, it’s the right call on his part. If it does, it’s stupid.

It's mostly a Herbstreit thing

He says it about a lot of people but especially Colt.

I’m fine with it if it’s something obvious like the OU punter. Not even a Sooner could watch that video and claim he wasn’t trying to win an Oscar. But Jeremy Beal’s hit on Colt at the end of the OU game? It was blatant and stupid on Beal’s part. Colt didn’t sense that it was coming. He was sitting on the ground, for crying out loud. The game was less than a minute from being over, and we were about to kneel out the clock. Yet Herbstreit claimed Colt was acting to draw a penalty. A penalty that would do what, exactly? Allow us to kneel 15 yards closer to the end zone?

Colt...

Is not the type of person, or so it seems, that would do anything intentionally to draw a foul. Especially if it has to do with a late hit. The hit from Beal was completely ridiculous and uncalled for.

Colt a great actor…Kiss my ass. He’s more man then Teblow i assure you that.

Colt has a history of taking "roughing the passer" penalties against OU

I’m not saying the Colt has flopped on a hit (I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen him do it), but in the last three (now four) years there have been roughing the passer calls against OU that still stick with them. I don’t know why anybody else (Herbstreit) would say Colt has a tendency to flop, but with OU fans any roughing the passer call is going to be bogus to them.

If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!

OU

They believe kidnapping, holding a screwdriver to a girls throat, stealing from Burlington Coat Factory, and working unpaid at Big Red Imports are all bogus too.
