Healthy Landry or Rusty Bradford?
Just out of curiosity, if Landry Jones happens to perform very well against questionable Miami secondary (and possibly against Baylor), who would OU choose to start next week and RRR? Do you go with a hot freshman quarterback or do you take a chance with a reigning Heisman winner returning from a serious shoulder injury?
If Jones is clicking with all the receivers, does Jones represent the best chance for OU to win against us? Of course, this will be a moot point if Bradford plays extensively this week against Miami and next week against Baylor.
Who would we rather see: Jones or Bradford? I guess this whole post is moot, given that we will blow OUt OU regardless who shows up to play at QB.
But what do you think anyway? If it were us, we'd be choosing between healthy GG v. rusty Colt.

I thought about this the other day
And I’d rather have Bradford in there for the RRS, given the scenario you describe.
Jones’ timing will be better. Teams begin to take on the personality and style of the QB who’s been performing.
If Bradford misses tonight’s game and sees some time, but not full time against Baylor, he won’t be ready for a big-time opponent. The subtleties of timing and feel for the game won’t be there. Also, will he be the same mentally, knowing Texas is a fair bet to put some hits on him; will his shoulder survive another hard hit; will he hear footsteps that aren’t there. All that stuff.

Been considering this...
and asking all of the fans that I know for awhile now. I would rather see Bradford in there, but I reserve the right to switch my choice if Jones stinks it up tonight. I really haven’t seen OU play at all this year, but tonight should be a good chance to check their fortitude.

Rusty Bradford?
Sounds like something done in a dirty mobile home bedroom in Norman, OK
Isn’t that when, while the woman is pleasuring her brother in Oklahoma, she grabs a hammer and breaks his shoulder with it?
Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.

The QB is irrelevent with that O-line and secondary
It would be better for Sam’s NFL career if he doesnt play in the RRS.

Their O-Line truly sucks, but let’s not forget the Big XII refs lack of holding calls. I bet the refs make this game closer than it really should be. I don’t care who OUs QB is, just get a different crew of Refs than what we saw last season.

At one point I felt OUsucks was due for a visit from the karma fairy after that crap loss against Oregon, but it’s been getting out of hand.

They have a few more visits to come.

I don’t think so. I think the karma fairy has already made reparations, and then some. That kickoff fiasco against Oregon was one of the most ridiculous thing in sports since the 1972 Olympic basketball replays, but OUsucks has gotten away with enough tackling and holding by the offensive line to make up for that and more.

Hoping for Bradfor
I want Kindle and Co. to plant his face in the turf all day long. Plus, Bradford back will limit their excuses when we win. All I have heard is how no Bradford, Gresham, and Broyles amounted to their loss. While it certainly is a valid point (heard us say it when we lost to KSU and ATM when Colt was injured), injuries are part of the game. Not to mention, OU was still favored of OU without those playwers. OU lost b/c that amzing defense of theirs could not stop Miami when it counted. Besides, it will be sweet to watch Bradford to get Bomared all day on October 17.

Maybe both of the QBs could get their faces planted?

Either one
Doesn’t matter. I’m looking forward to this game. Bring it!!!!!

Miami Exposed ou O-line
2nd half was dominant Miami D and it all started up front. Canes put a beatdown on ou’s right side from the 2nd qtr on. We need to come hard, fast, and every down. I have to think ou will try to develop a power run game. It’s their only chance.
by orangetower on Oct 5, 2009 2:50 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Frankly, I don't think it matters
The O-line is terrible, I’m pretty sure we can count on them to stall 3 or 4 of OU’s drives in the game. That said, right now I would rather have Landry. His timing will be better than Bradford’s, and doesn’t seem to have any obvious limitations when compared to Bradford, but Kevin Wilson’s playcalling with Landry in the game is so conservative, I doubt OU would get more than 10 points on us. With Bradford in there, you can count on him, even without much play time this year, to get a few big plays and get his team in scoring position.
If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!

Remember when Texas beat up on OUsucks in the championship run? The Peterson-less, Bomar-less Sooners? Well, sure, it’d be more fun to destroy a top-five Sooners team, but that doesn’t mean it’s not still a lot of fun to watch what could be an ugly, ugly scene.
by burntorangehorn on Oct 6, 2009 7:39 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
What?
Peterson was hurt, and Bomar was getting hurt (courtesy of Robison). They were both there in ‘05. Not sure if you’re thinking the next year or what.

I thought they were both out when UT played them in 2005.
by burntorangehorn on Oct 6, 2009 11:23 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Bomar was definitely in the game.
That’s when we got the famous Bomar’d picture. B. Robison hit him then Rod Wright took the fumble to the endzone for the TD! How can you not remember that play?
I think Peterson was dinged up, but can’t recall directly if he was playing that game or not.

That was my favorite UT play of all time:

Id go with Bradford if he can play
That said, expect whoever is playing to take a beating, so i dont know if they will risk Bradford. I imagine he wants to play badly. Id say chance of re-injury is possible to likely with a shaky O line. Our DL will step up in competition this Saturday so we can see approximately how much time against Colorado as a descent bellweather as the stregnth of the Buffalo team is at OL and RB. If Texas destroys the CU line and pummels the Buffs without injury then Id expect to see Texas favored against OU by at least 8 next week.
Just an aside, the Landry kid looks good, and he will be trouble for years to come. If he can throw on the run and run a little that will help OU more against UT but i havent seen enough yet to know for sure about the run of his game.

Good Points
I think Stoops might milk the media coverage for all it’s worth and then use Sam’s story to deminish the effect of our victory.
What on earth will they do with the 5 star recruit Blake Bell that’s coming in with Jones being the heir apparent?
by orangetower on Oct 7, 2009 3:22 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Oklahoma found a five-star guy named Blake Bell? That’s two Blake Bells in one class now!

Scout has him 5, Rivals has him 4
Same guy, different source.
by orangetower on Oct 7, 2009 4:15 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Ah. I figured he was closer to a three-star than a five-star.
I guess we’ll see. The ado about Wood seemed greater than about Bell in many non-Longhorn reports I had read, so I had thought it unlikely he’d be taken for a five-star prospect.
by burntorangehorn on Oct 7, 2009 4:41 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think the 3 might be the real deal.
I’m glad we have Wood. Smart kid with his head on straight. I saw an interview on Houston TV where the reporter was kind of sniding his UT commit by way of the QB competition he will face here. The kid looked right at him and said he chose UT for more than just football. IQ smackdown from a prep star. It was classic.
