Second Half Open Thread

Texas leads 24-7 at half behind some great plays made and some good luck with plays OSU did not make... Shocking and outrageous are the five-wide, empty sets on offense, the 'Horns are in great shape at intermission following the beautiful McCoy-to-Malcolm touchdown with seconds to go.

Let's close this out...

Last year I felt Texas pulled off in the second half

in anticpation of going to Tech. I don’t think that will happen this year.

The more I think about it, the less convinced I am that he'll jump

He’s 5’10" at best, which means he’s probably not going to get the greatest report on his draft stock, unless a team wants to move him to corner.

Bob Sanders would be a nice comparison

He seems to play smarter (lower-risk) football than Sanders at this point in his career than Sanders did, though.

That is why that pick was a mistake

the field position battle is still the easiest way to move the all down the field. One bad play like that gave OSU a short field in the long run.

Do the right play every time. It doesn’t matter the score. Things like that can easily become a habit in other situations. At what time is it OK and when is it not…

I’ll Take Earl Campbell, James Brown or Ricky Williams over Sanders any day and in that order.

No way...

Sanders was special. He did more with less talent around him in the pros. That’s not taking anything away from those other guys though. Earl was my childhood hero but Sanders was the better runner.

Garrett Gilbert vs Case McCoy

what happens to the loser of this starting QB battle next year and in the future? I’m assuming whoever wins is going to be a legit QB and wouldn’t lose his starting job. Should the loser transfer like Snead did for the sake of his future playing career?

by goingforthecorner on Oct 31, 2009 10:11 PM CDT reply actions

if case redshirts, he will be two years behind.

by JohnsonUT on Oct 31, 2009 10:12 PM CDT up reply actions

The battle is really Connor Wood vs Case McCoy for backup...

Both will probably redshirt to put themselves a year behind Gilbert..

by cj43 on Oct 31, 2009 10:12 PM CDT up reply actions

(7) Cincy
(8) Iowa

Division title

So, Texas would have to lose two games to remaining conference opponents, including one of them to a2m and/or Tech (who would also have to win all remaining conference games) in order to NOT win the division title.

That’s good shape.
