Jenks OK Coach Suspends Himself
The incriminating evidence about Jarrett Lake's recruitment to play WR for Jenks, HS has continued and now the head coach has suspended himself. This self-imposed punisment after the facts have been exposed is odd since the governing body should really be letting Jenks have it.
If a team realizes it made a mistake and self-reports that violation that is an appropriate situation to allow self-imposed sanctions to suffice (if the penalty is appropriate). But, when a team keeps covering up its violation, and fights the rulings by the governing body, that team should no longer have any leniency of punishment based on its self-imposed punishments. It turns out that the Jenks school district could not suspend the coach without pay unless he voluntarily accepted that option.

The Most ridiculous thing the HS Coach did was submit a letter to the reviewing commission that alleged J. Lake didn't know how to play football, or even get dressed into his football gear, when he came to enroll at Jenks. It was absurd. I have looked for it but can't find it but I remember when I read it I was laughing. The kid is good enough for OU but this coach was teaching him how to dress. OK.
The below link is to the investigation report and it is quite extensive. I didn't see any strong OU link, but the fact that Lake is an OU commit and was living with Gabe Lynn's dad definiltey has to make you wonder what role OU played.

Quick reminder
To everyone: make sure you are clear on when you yourself are asserting something as fact, and when you are relaying that someone else has alleged something. Believe it or not, commenters sometimes get sued for what they write on messageboards.
I think Wrangler86 does a good job of making clear he’s referring to a Rivals article, but you can’t be too sure. Just a heads up for everyone. You’re liable for what you write.
You ain't hurt.
PB--Thanks for the reminder
I finally found the letter Coach Trimble wrote per the Tulsaworld article for the investigation. Here is one of the original stories and it has a link midway down to view the documents submitted. The Coach Trimble letter dated May 29, 2009 is one of the documents
Coach Trimble said, he had “absolutely no football knowledge or experience” and later he “didn’t know the diffrent positions by name.” Sorry, I thought it was about getting dressed—but you get the gist of it. I knew it was something absurd. These documents are believed to be related to Lake. I’m sure the coaches at Hargrave Military Academy peed their pants from laughter at that allegation.
I do think the NCAA should investigate OU commit Gabe Lynn’s dad providing housing to Lake since he was an OU recruit/commit. I know that I almost had to live with a friend during HS, so not sure where the line is drawn. But, with recruiting and benefits to consider the NCAA should at least investigate.
