Dez Bryant ruled Ineligible
I can't believe this. What is happening in the Big 12 this year? This helps our chances greatly in Stillwater.

wow
It doesn’t state for how long or if any games are in question. Do you know for sure he won’t play in our game?
Off weeks sure seem to bring out the goblins.

It's a possibility but there is no guarantee.
The school is applying on Bryant’s behalf for re-instatement. I have no clue what the time frame is for that.

Two Rumors
1) Hired and agent
or
2) Stayed at Deion Sanders house while working at a camp which is a violation (supposedly)
I guess it really doesn’t matter what it was, he is being suspended for not telling the truth to the NCAA.

Several contacts at OSU...
told that he worked out with Deion in the offseason…another moronic NCAA rule if in fact a rule was broken. Lying about it is certainly not condonable. That being said, if you know his family history and story, he has been through more than most of us ever could imagine going through. Love watching the guy play…

He lied
This is what he said.
“I made a mistake by not being entirely truthful when meeting with the NCAA,” Bryant said in a statement released by the school. “I sincerely regret my mistake and apologize to my teammates, coaches, OSU fans and the NCAA.”

Mistake
No mistake – he lied!

It looks like he just had contact with an NFL player without reporting it to the NCAA, or at least without reporting it accurately. Not good, sure, but is that really going to survive appeal?

Depending on the definition of contact
this could be very minor. Or much more.
Since he’s been ruled ineligible, I’d guess it’s the more. And since there’s an investigation involved, I’d guess this is not something that just happened. School may (or may not) have looked into it and forwarded info to the NCAA; this sounds like what happened. If so, the school knew NOT reporting it might put them on the hot seat (where OU should have been after the Bomar-Quinn car dealership incident).
Too bad for the young man. And his Oklahoma State teammates.
But, you know — there are rules. They’re not that hard to understand (here, I’m talking to you, Mr. Scott, concerning your academic progress). Most coaches and athletes and staffers play by the rules. Should be a message there. You would think.

On C&C machine the rumor seems to be that he had a workout with Deion, and then lied about the details to the NCAA.

Comparison
normal college kid is not entirely truthful with an admissions counselor or a committee reviewing his academic standards. What do you think happens?
He should not be treated differently as a football player and it is a shame that someone – parent – coach, etc. does not stand up to him and call him out for lying and stop falling behind this mistake language. This is a prime example of what is wrong in sports!

Facepalm.
Where is my Big 12 of lore?

If it takes the NCAA 4 weeks...
To reject Brandon Collins’ appeal concerning an academic issue. It sure as heck better take at least 4 weeks of time to appeal this much more serious charge of meeting with an agent. Not making judgements to Dez’s guilt… but they better not speed this thing through just because of what team he plays for or how valuable he is to the team.
If Scott & Collins are any indication, Dez won’t know anything til November 5th at the earliest.

Okie State suspended him, not the NCAA, right? So even if he were to get an injunction or restraining order for reinstatement, Gundy wouldn’t have to play him if he wanted to support the institution.
