Dez Bryant Ineligible For Rest of Season

Per Espn...

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4540282

Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant has been ruled ineligible for violating an NCAA bylaw, the school announced Wednesday.

Bryant, an All-American who is ranked ninth overall on Mel Kiper Jr.'s most recent Big Board, was ruled ineligible by the school because he failed to fully disclose his interaction with a former NFL player to the NCAA.

Oklahoma State has already begun the process of applying to the NCAA for Bryant's reinstatement, the school said. He sat out Oklahoma State's last game against Grambling State.

WHAT?! Wow. That sucks for them. I will be much less worried about that road game if Dez is out.

...and there goes their season

…all of a sudden feeling much less scared about halloween this year…still won’t be a walk in the park though

I do wonder who’ll be the guy to stand up and produce in the passing game. Zac Robinson’s too good a QB for that system to just stop putting up numbers. Maybe I guess Fooks could be the obvious choice, since he’s the one who ended up the top target vs. Grambling, but you never know.

So OU’s going to be missing Broyles, Gresham, and possibly Bradford, and now the Cowboys are missing Bryant and Hunter. Not an easy time for the state of Oklahoma.

It's being appealed

OSU is already trying to get him reinstated, he was suspended because he was misleading to the school about his contact with the ex-nfl player but it wasn’t necessarily illegal contact, so there is a chance he may be reinstated.

Word on the street is Bryant was talking to Deion.

If you could, wouldn’t you?

No. Actually, I’ve met him when the Cowboys camp was in WF and I wouldn’t cross the street to greet him.

The rest of the Big XII is making it easy on us

1. We got Tech out of the way early
2. “10 win no excuses” Colorado looks terrible
3. Rusty Bradford (or Landry), no Broyles, no Gresham, intermural O-line
4. Big Missouri away game is during their down year
5. No Dez, Hunter and Robinson still nursing injuries
6. No Griffin (although this truly upset me)
7. We get Kansas in Austin
8. TAMU hype trail already derailed

If we don’t win the Big XII there will be hell to pay.

I wouldn't say Missouri is in a down year

Sure they don’t have Maclin, Coffman, and Daniel anymore, but they have gotten the job done so far this year. Then again they couldn’t even touch us when they had all 3.

They're undefeated, yes

but from what I can tell efficiency and consistency are both down from last year, when they weren’t that great even with the Big 3. This is the one thing I dislike about non-conference, teams can get overrated playing cupcakes. They blew up Illinois, which looked good in week 1 when everybody had Illinois as a dark horse Big 10 contender, but now they are widely considered the most disappointing team in the country. Other than that they haven’t played another BCS conference team.

Mizzou Tickets

I got mine in the mail today. Should be a fun game.

Thursday night...

The Cornhuskers play Nebraska. We should have a better idea of who they are and what they can actually do.

by dimecoverage on Oct 7, 2009 7:02 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Look at Mizzou's game vs Bowling Green

Enough said. We don’t play the best team in the Big 12 North (Nebraska), which is another potential break for us.

Hold off judgment on MiZZOU until after the Nebraska game...

We;ll know a lot more about them by tomorrow at this time. KU has been quietly solid all year too…

Missouri’s not going to be as good as in their big season when they only lost to OUsucks (twice), but they’re enough of a threat that they’re worth some worry. Same with Kansas, I think, assuming Sharp’s back and Opurum keeps developing.

But yes, it would appear that the Bryant, Broyles, Bradford, Gresham, and other similar occurrences have probably only made the path easier.

Karma

Someone needs to post how each Big 12 coach voted at the end of last year and all the problems they are now having this year. The curse of shunning Mack Brown is growing stronger.

Deion Sanders

Heard that he worked out at Deion’s facility last spring and was untruthful when the university questioned him about it. Haven’t heard that he’s out for the remainder of the season. Just indefinite for now.

Pretty Hypocritcal, If You Ask Me

Sure the guy lied. But it was about hanging out and working out with a former NFL player. I didn’t hear any allegations that anything beyond that had happened. Pretty stiff penalty to give him (and de facto OSU) the axe for the season.

Yet Reggie Bush can have his WHOLE family sucking on the teet of a sports agent with the same first and last name (practically), but he keeps his Heisman and USC keeps their records. Doesn’t seem right does it?

by rmsbuta on Oct 7, 2009 11:38 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Nope. And we know this suspension probably wouldn’t have happened at USC. Or OUsucks.

Really?

If that were true, how come we can’t get Collins eligible? Or why did Bomar get caught?

by Wells on Oct 8, 2009 12:09 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

“We” can’t get Collins eligible because he’s not eligible, and I don’t think it’s likely that Texas is going to risk bending any rules just to get him back on the field this year.

Bomar, Quinn, and Peterson were all caught in that scandal, no?
