Does Mack face his biggest test of the year now?
What a great game last night, the offense managed the game well and the defense played another lights out game against an offense and quarterback that were coming in hot and probably the best O they were going to face during the regular season. With OSU being so balanced that whole "bend don't break" motto comes into effect. The D bent here and there, but very very little and all of OSU's yards came in the first half. My favorite parts of the game though was the kickoff coverage, with the exception of one good run after the game was way out of hand the Longhorns kickoff coverage was phenomenal and OSU was constantly starting inside the 20 and around their 10 a couple of times. It is just great to see after some of the runs and struggles they have given up on kickoffs. Not to mention OSU has one of the best kick returners in the country.
So after getting up a little earlier than usual on a Sunday morning thanks to daylight savings time, I did my usual Sunday morning routine by turning on cartoons for my son and reading what everyone said about last nights game and of course reading about Oregon's destruction of USC. For those of you who have not read any of those articles about our beloved Longhorns, all I gotta say is that all of them are drinking pitchers and pitchers of orange Kool-Aid. Forde has done a complete 180 (I loved JRPasadena's email to Forde by the way, I just wish I knew if he read it or not) and already has Texas penciled in the MNC game. Not just Forde, but other writers as well.
Now comes Macks biggest part of the season, keeping this team focused because in this new era of college football no one is safe. Upsets are always lurking around the corner even against the most overmatched opponet. I know the Longhorns have a clear path with very little in the way of obstacles, UCF gave us a great game two years ago, but that Texas team and this one are night and day, and I just do not know anything about UCF, but historically have been a poor program since moving up to D-1 (I do not use FBS or FCS or any of that other crap). Baylor is struggling big time since losing their leader in Griffin, Kansas has self destructed, and I am just not sure what the hell A&M is doing in College Station, that is definitely a Jekyll and Hyde team right there. But if Texas loses it's focus and starts peaking ahead, those very little obstacles can become huge. I know Mack has always done a very good job of keeping his teams focused and Texas is arguably the hottest team in the country, they just need to keep doing what they are and the sky is the limit for the Longhorns.

Point taken
To be honest, A&M in College Station worries me, but not much because of our defense.
It Ain't Easy, But It's Worth It.

worry?
You know I was worried about Okie State last night. This morning after that defensive performance nothing worries me anymore. These guys can play some damn football. Muschamp and the Goon Squad are gonna smash anybody. FOUR ints TWO pick 6’s. Tebow threw two against frickin Mississippi State. What do you think our D will do to his holy ass?
I even named my son Kolt.

Just made this point in another thread...
but our kickoff coverage was great in large part due to Justin Tucker, the kicker, making some clutch tackles. Let’s give him his due.

Justin Tucker
is probably one of the most aggressive kickers I’ve seen in getting down the field and making a tackle, he’s not the last push over the returner gets to run by, he’s a legitimate tackling threat. Great to see even the kicker having some fun out there on the field
