Sarcastic Forde rips Longhorns win
That Pat Forde. He's such a jerk -- at first glance, this article appears to be favorable, but we know better. We know his tricks--statements like "debate about the BCS National Championship Game became a moo-t point" and "Texas played up to its championship-level heritage" are sarcastic rips to make us overconfident.
He despises Texas and is attempting to kill us with kindness -- see for yourself here.

I did not interpret his article as subversive...
but rather a testament to the obvious. He is no longer equiped with any proof that the team has a weakness. A real testament to the coaching staff in getting 100%+ out of the players. And, it says a lot about the teams continuing effort to silence it’s critics. As we all have been saying, win and your in. That is the focus and that is the goal. Period.
Pat Forde will be only one example this week of the turning tide in the media. There is nothing now standing in the way of Pasadena except the players themselves.
I see MB playing very conservative the next 3 games in order to avoid injuries and conserve leg energy heading into post season play.
"We don't freestyle Texas Fight, big boy." - Coach Brown
Whatever the intent of Forde in the article
I really just don’t like him. His reporting is absolutely atrocious and he always comes across as smug and elitist. I haven’t cared for him since a few years ago when he did an absolutely terrible article on Bobby Knight and just completely distorted the truth on him. He’s ridiculous and should hardly be considered a journalist.
"I want to be remembered as the guy who gave his all whenever he was on the field."
-Walter Payton
I second that
Not a big fan either, but I don’t see thee article as being sarcastic. Nothing to look into too much.
This post is sarcasm, right? I got it.
I'm not sober.

Just in case anyone is missing the point here
this post has to be sarcasm. if you follow him on twitter, he was talking up the ‘Horns last night throughout the game. I don’t think he’s such a bad guy and I’ve seen him take our side on TV more than a few times, to be fair.
Conserve leg energy for post season play?...
We do not have a play off and btw, we will have about 3 weeks to a month off before our bowl game.
I don’t see Mack going conservative, but the exact opposite and riding the momentum to the Big 12 Championship.
I'm just getting tired of the comments about officiating
More than once, he alluded to “the undefeated team” getting calls. That is Internet message board garbage and should be beneath someone who works for ESPN.
It’s one thing when you have a situation like the LSU/Georgia game a few weeks ago or Florida/Arkansas, where the officials are just visibly incompetent and everyone knows it. But it’s different to say that an officiating crew is intentionally trying to help “the undefeated team” stay undefeated in a game where, as Forde readily admits in his article, the other team is outmatched.
Everyone has an opinion on officiating and no one individual’s opinion is more relevant than any other’s. I just wish writers and analysts would stop trying to insert themselves into those discussions, as though their thoughts are the final word on the issue.
Officials and the "undefeated team"
The broadcasters covering the Iowa-Indiana game yesterday used the same terminology. It was the first I’d heard it. You’re right — it’s garbage, and another example of how an online meme breaks into the mainstream and suddenly gets credence.
Yes. He's just a sportswriter.
A sportswriter who works for the entity that controls everything having to do with college football.
