Around SBN: MLB Trade Deadline: Phils, Astros complete Roy Oswalt deal

I know he has never been to the championship game, but number 20? You've got to be kidding me. That said, a lot of this poll doesn't make sense (like Billy Donovan at 21, and Jeff Capel at 16), and I am overly sensitive to Barnes criticism because I live with a rabid Duke fan and a UNC alum. Both of them constantly talk trash about Barnes whenever I bring up basketball. So I could be making a big deal about nothing, but I don't think Rick Barnes gets the national respect he deserves.

I would put him at about 9 or 10 on the list based on their criteria of "career achievement and recent results". Any ideas why is he not generally thought of as a top 10 coach by people outside of Texas?

I for one think he is great and hope he stays in Austin, when your buddies talk smack say where’s your football teams because Texas is a football first school and he has done a hella job getting recruits here and winning ! The reason about respect outside of Texas I think is no natl title, once he gets that he’ll be the talk of town.it was awesome when we made it too the final 4 in 02,Mouton,Ivey too bad Carmelo had to get in the way.. good stuff though!

oddly enough...

both of them agree that UNC will win a national championship in football before we win one in basketball. It goes without saying that I am glad the ’heels have had such a mediocre football season; hopefully that will continue in the near future, and Butch Davis will leave for greener pastures.

Rivals

Is becoming like College Football News to me. A bunch of monkeys who are in the business of writing junk to make you talk about it, rather than writing analysis to make you think.

You ain't hurt.

how did they arrive at these rankings?

There’s no comment at all on the methodology of ranking these coaches. Did some guy just create a list? Ridiculous.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
