TENN Star Freshm3n (yes 3) accused of armed robery
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4647094
"Safety Janzen Jackson and receiver Nu'Keese Richardson, two of coach Lane Kiffin's most prized signees from his first recruiting class, were among three Tennessee football players arrested early Thursday morning in Knoxville on charges of attempted armed robbery."
The third player arrested is also a freshman, defensive back Mike Edwards. It was not immediately clear if the players have attorneys.
Kiffin's recruits appear to be living up to his standards. He is going to make Stoops look like he recruits kids of character when he is done. This is another example of not knowing, properly assessing, or caring about the character of the kids you recruit. Of course, these guys are innocent until proven guilty. But, sounds bad.

I think we're all well aware
But one thing you notice a lot of in that wikipedia entry is the phrase “suspended indefinitely.” In addition, most of those guys didn’t suit up for the Horns after their incidents. And, obviously, Mack changed his recruiting philosophy after that summer to go after less players of lower moral character.
We’ll have to see what Kiffin does to these guys, especially considering 2 of them were top notch recruits. Hopefully they never put on a Tennessee jersey, but we’ll see.
Oh, please. Yes, that was a bad year. Consider the number of Brown problem players vs. TN, or other SEC schools… I’ll take Brown’s record and his handling of the problems over Kiffin (and Fulmer before), Meyer, Bowden… any day.

Now, give Meyer some credit...
For armed robbery I’m sure he would make them sit out an entire game.

in both cases
1) Florida guy tries to blind Georgia guy – the Georgia guy thinks the Florida guy should not have been suspended.
2) The dude that the Vols held up doesn’t think they should have to miss any time on the field.
Shouldn’t the victims have some say in how these morons are punished? I know it’s crazy, but maybe these guys don’t need to be punished. They were able to choose victims of equal moronitude.
"Y'know, I'd rather be mugged than watch Tennessee have minimal contributions that might lead to yet another loss."
In all seriousness, though, victims shouldn’t have any say in how state or district attorneys prosecute criminal cases. The prosecution should aim to stop repeats of future crimes, and they can’t do that if the criminals walk because the victim was an idiotic fan.
But I do think victims in some of these athlete cases might fear retribution if they push to throw the book at the offending parties.
