College Game Day Open Thread
Early risers. Saddle up. Time to take stock of signs, maligns, and times. All posters welcome. Tailgate is now open for business.
GAME DAY - screw 'em all. Cowboy posers.
Already we have heard from the ESPN corporate mouth, Chris Fowler, opening the question up to Texas losing today. Corso and Herbstreit shut it down. If Texas slips up. If Texas slips up? R U kidding me! What a joke.
And speaking of Chris Fowler, you suck. We all remember you throwing the upside down horns sign in Lubbock last year. You are officially on the S*** list. I don't care how much you like Austin, yankee.
Very slow start to the talking points today. Bama or FL have a better chance of slipping up. Give me a break.
Let's bring the smack strong today. Art Briles SUX!

Blount should have served his 1 year suspension.
Where’s the deterent for future bad behavior?

I slowed the DVR and if the ball crossed, it was only by 1/4"
The booth should not have overturned the call on the field as that is not conclusive video IMO.

plus there was question as to whether or not....
the player had control of the ball as he stretched the ball out. The commentator made a good point about all the replay controversy we have seen this year in that the video booth review is not to use their opinion to overturn a call on the field………..they must have clear and unquestionable video evidence to overturn the call by the officials on the field
and also...
yet another video review goes in favor of a team battling for a spot in the MNC. Florida, Bama, Cinci, and Iowa have had crucial and very questionable calls go their way in big games this year.
So I guess this means Texas has one coming their way too, right? lol.
We'll deposit ours for withdrawal in the MNC game.

to be honest, we've caught some pretty good breaks w/ officiating so far this year a few times
i thought it was lucky we didn’t get a safety ruled on the field last game
And the non-fumble by Kirk
Either one of those two calls could’ve gone either way.

I'm still surprised
the cameras they use for goal line reviews aren’t lined up exactly with the plane. It’s all video trickery when viewed at an angle, making overturns even less easy to justify.
if you are not hated, you are not winning enough.

Case Keenum 79.8% completions!
i knew his stats were ridiculous but wow, there’s a chance Colt’s record might not stand very long.
The only record that counts is 46-7. It's all about the wins, baby!
"We don't freestyle Texas Fight, big boy." - Coach Brown
What?
His season completion percentage is only 71.0% so far, which is lower than Colt’s humble 72.9%. Nick Foles of Arizona is also higher with 71.4%. I’m not sure what the minimum number of attempts is for eligibility for the record, but Colt, Foles, and Keenum are the top three with 200+ attempts. In the 100+ group, the backup QB for Cinci, Zach Collaros, is hitting 75.0% on 124 attempts, and Sheffield is hitting 74.5% for Tech in 102 attempts.

Calculations:
If Keenum were to keep up his average of 50.88 attempts per game over the remaining three games of the season, plus the CUSA championship game and bowl game, he’d hit 712.44 attempts on the season. Let’s round down for the sake of argument.
Colt’s record is 77.6%. To equal that over 712 attempts, Keenum would have to complete 552.512. Round that up to 553, since he actually needs to beat, not equal, Colt’s record.
Keenum has 325 completions in his 458 pass attempts. Going on the assumptions above, Keenum would need to hit 228 of 254 attempts over the remaining five games. That would be a princely 89.76% in that timeframe.
My friends, unless my calculations are very, very incorrect, Keenum’s probably not much of a threat to Colt’s completion percentage record.

Must have been
They have the correct stats on their own website, in fact.
http://espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=191981
The 71.0% match up with Rivals and all the other statistical sources. Did the ESPN dudes talk about Keenum as a threat to the record or something? There’s only been one game in which Keenum exceeded 77.6% in a game, and that was when he hit 81.5% against Southern Miss.

nope
they didnt say anything about it. i went back and freeze framed it on gameday just to make sure i wasnt going crazy. had to have been a typo.
i did however see 79.8% pop up when i searched “case keenum 79.8”… except it was Colt’s % since the missouri game =)
Damn ESPN...how the hell you show a damn Sooner jersey on ESPN/Dallas.com?

I don't think ND has moved the needle since the almost win over SC in '05.
That was a huge deflator for the program.
