Tickets to Pasadena?
I'd really like to attend the national championship cause I hate the fact I missed it last time. For those of you that went to the rose bowl in 06...did you buy your tickets early? Can I buy them now or is it best to wait?

Can someone specifically answer this for students as well? I'm a new student here.

I've been pondering a trip as well
We’re not extremely wealthy at this point, but going to Pasadena for the national championship game could really get expensive.
Anyone recall how much it cost? Think a trip for two, including tickets, transportation, and lodging, could be had for less than $3000? $4000?

Hmm, looks like only end zone tickets are available for team-specific reservations
And they’re “only” $525 right now. Hardly chump change, but much better than I had expected.

Ugh, nevermind
That’s just to reserve team-specific tickets. If one pays that reservation fee, and Texas makes it, an additional $275/ticket is charged to the card. If Texas were to not make it, then the $275/ticket wouldn’t be charged, but the reservation price ($525) would be forfeit. Seems like a sure bet right now, but man, that’s a hefty risk.

I luckily bought this option (to purchase face value tickets) at $90/ticket.

StubHub lists tickets for sale
but they don’t say anything like the tournament of roses website…as far as I can tell it just looks like flat price for tickets ranging from $567 to….$58,825?!?

Curious as well
Since I don’t have the answers I’m going to rec this in hopes it stays at the top until someone posts some good info.

so if you're a student, it looks like these are your options
in increasing order of ticket availability (and therefore, cost):
1a) student lottery for tickets (there’s one every year at UT for the bowl game; only student season ticket holders, and not mere LASP holders, can apply; don’t know exactly when it will happen or how many tickets will be available)
1b) the small number of public tickets available through ticketmaster (see the tournament of roses ticket faq)
2a) secondary market(s) (scalpers, ebay, craigslist, etc)
2b) lock in your $275 ticket right now for about $825, but keep in mind that $550 is non-refundable, so no big 12 title game chokes please

2005 vs. 2009
I tend to recall $800 minimum to get into the Rose Bowl in 2005, and $1,000+ for anything with a decent view.
I’m cautiously optimistic that the prices won’t be as bad this year, assuming we’re playing an SEC school, as there will be no local school with a fanbase that doesn’t have to travel. Additionally, I think the Texas fanbase won’t be quite as rabid, given that we hadn’t won a championship in 35 years the last time around. Far more fans have had the opportunity to see us win a championship in person.

I wonder if I'm high enough in the longhorn foundation to get tickets
I got tickets to the Fiesta Bowl last year through them, but you could buy those at the gate from scalpers for $5 a pop. Somehow, I don’t think the NC is going to be the same.
