Postgame Celebration Thread: Texas Rolls Kansas, Wins Big 12 South
Congratulations to Texas's 22 seniors, who won their 15th consecutive game and 23rd of their last 24. And special congratulations to Colt McCoy, who won his 43rd career start, the most in NCAA history. Neither his, nor the 2009 team's, legacies are yet finished, but with tonight's 51-20 win over Kansas, the Longhorns improve to 11-0 on the season, clinch the Big 12 South, and step within 2 wins of a national title berth.
This is as good as I've felt about the team all year. Hook 'em!

Great game.
But worried about the AJ and Chiles injuries.

I wasn't able to watch the game until the last few minutes
and I don’t know why but I’m drawing a blank: who’s AJ?
If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!

Oh that sucks, he just got back from injury
Why is he called AJ?

Marcus Davis...
Is he ready to play some at nickel yet? Hopefully AJ’s injury isn’t too serious. I know we normally move ET to the nickel and bring in Brewster when AJ isn’t playing.

Will Still Have
Chykie, Curtis B, D. Beasley, Giddeon, Thomas, and Brewster.

I think the nickel package would be like what started against Missouri
with Beasley joining Thomas, Gideon, Cu. Brown and Chykie Brown (subbing for Williams). But against a more power-oriented team like Nebraska, there’d be less 4-2-5 and more 4-3, and maybe Brewster would be the fifth DB.

Yeah, but AJ is our only shutdown corner...
I thought Nebraska ran the spread? Florida would be the spread. Alabama would be a more 4-3 where we use E. Acho more. Guess we start hoping for Alabama if this is serious.

Nebraska ran the spread
the first 5 or 6 games this season, but has since changed offensive philosophies mid season. They’re now more of a pro-style power running football team, incorporating play action and rollouts.
Like the Texans 2003-2006. Bad years

Great win, but
concerned about the pass defense effort tonight. We gave up too many explosives. I guess the good news here is that we do not face another QB the rest of the way that can put up numbers like Reesing can.

give credit to Briscoe
he is the man

He had a great return
But even considering his good performance tonight, the UT kickoff coverage was piss-poor. The many whiffs were just plain aggravating.

Its a damn good lesson
It’ll make us work harder this week in practice. You’ve seen what our DBs can do…don’t worry.

Gotta give some props to Kirkendoll tonight...
I’ve been on him most of the season but he shut me up tonight.

He had a good game
But still, he is not where I thought he would be, even tonight.
Colt really missed Brandon Collins this season.
"I don't ever miss free throws. I'm like 100-percent from the free throw line. I just don't think about missing and if you think about missing you're going to miss. I just take my time and know I'm going to make it and I do," McClellan said.

Just got back from the game
We’re sitting in our seedy motel, getting ready to head out on the town a little. Anyway, AJ looked pretty tender when he was helped off the field.
Shipley looked awesome tonight. Ten more catches, putting him at 91 on the season. Looks like he might not need the extra games to break Kwame Cavil’s record!
This was truly a terrific experience, getting to see all these legendary seniors in their final home games. They all did a victory lap after singing the Eyes, and Colt was asked to shoot the cannon and bang the drum on the way around. All of ‘em except Colt, who was still busy giving high-fives to the front rows, had a dogpile on the longhorn at midfield. Oh, I guess Clark Ford didn’t get in on it, because of the injury.

I was there as well...still giddy about the seniors and Colt...
I must say, I got a little teary eyed a couple of times…what a surreal evening at DKR. This team is special…the last two seasons have been simply amazing. Time to crush the Ags and Husker U. Hook Em!!

No way SC should be there
But I guess it’s possible.

That was pretty amazing.
I’m terrible at gauging crowd numbers, but it sure looked to me like at least 50% of DKR was still standing 10 minutes after the game ended. Seniors did a long, slow victory lap, Colt set off the cannon and banged Big Bertha, then they dogpiled on the 50-yard Longhorn. Colt had to be pulled off the field by a coach, he was completely amped up and the crowd was right there with him. Loudest Texas Fight of the night came 15 minutes after it hit 0:00.

I thought that was hilarious
All the cheerleaders kept wanting pictures with Colt, and they were trying to take more when the asst. coach dragged him away.
It rules to be Colt right now.

Whoops, I was a little too slow
Yeah, I felt bad for the one cheerleader who had to take the picture and didn’t get her own with Colt thanks to coach buzzkill.

Statesman reporting Aaron Williams has a knee injury
of undetermined severity. UT would issue such a report if a player had three cartilage tears or two mosquito bites. He was in enough pain on the field that it has to be pretty bad.

Colt looked like Colt from 2008
Also, it was great seeing Mack/Colt in the 4th. Colt was asking Mack to play another series and Mack, smiling, shook his head and said no. Colt was jokingly upset and started laughing.

Props to Mangino who spoke with Colt after the game...
for a good 30-45 seconds or so…with a pretty big smile on his face.

i kinda wonder
if he was hamming it up (pun intended) a little bit because this was primetime ABC the week of his condemnation
by drbadass on Nov 22, 2009 3:24 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Actually, there is the possibility that he's human
And that he was graciously congratulating Colt McCoy for the good game and new record, just like Mack was smiling, joking, and shaking hands with Dezmon Briscoe for a good bit after the game.

Sweet baby Jesus let AJ and Chiles be ok
We will eventually NEED AJ and Chiles would come in very handy. I have said all season that the only thing that can ruin this saeson is injuries. Where did someone say the steatesman reported Chiles in a boot I didn’t see it on there. In fact I didn’t even see him get injured. How did it happen.
