I think everybody is signaling “he’s down” since on the previous play the receiver caught the ball, went to the ground, and then the DB stripped the ball after he was down. If you watch, a lot of players are making the same signal. The LSU QB may have misinterpreted it and Les Miles shouldn’t have been focusing on it, but he probably wasn’t calling for a spike.

At least I hope not.

Les Miles screwed up for sure.

I just don’t think he was calling for the spike. It doesn’t make his terrible time management any better it just means he’s not stupid enough to spike the ball with a second left.

Unless he is. You might be right, but that’s not my guess from watching the play previous.
