Earl Thomas is a Thorpe Award Finalist
Wow. I can't really say that I didn't expect it, but I'm truly proud of him and the way Muschamp is getting our guys to play lights out defensively.
I cannot find confirmation on this except for shaggybevo and Barkingcarnival, but when I do, I'll post it in the comments.
Eric Berry and Joe Haden are the other finalists. Berry should win on name recognition alone. He's absolutely amazing for the Vols and has been for 3 years.

2100 San Jac
Thats a very interesting name. I grew up in a city whose main street was FM 2100, and the closest community college (13th grade for our HS) was San Jacinto College, referred to as, San Jac.
Just struck me.

Those numbers don't lie
Earl will win. This award a little fairer than the stiffarm. Aaron Ross came out of nowhere to win.

Confirmation
Can be found in the Nov 20, 2009, “Kickin it with the Horns” segment on mackbrown-texasfootball.com. They interview Earl and I believe introduce him as a Thorpe-award finalist.
Let's also add 15 passes defended for Earl
9 for Haden and Berry has less than 9. he’s not listed on the ncaa stats page.

True
People are not throwing to Berry. He also plays in a run 1st SEC. But ET is just an unreal athletic freak. I personally think Berry should win because he just flat out deserves the award. Hell, he should have won it last year, and possibly the year before that. I think Berry hits harder than ET, but not by much. Not that it matters.

if it were a career award, I would agree
But it’s not, so I can’t see how anyone other than Thomas should get it. He’s been ridiculous this year. I know I’m biased, but the stats don’t lie. “Teams don’t throw to his side” shouldn’t be an arguement to give him the award.
I will say, though, Eric Berry is a hell of a football player. He should go top 10 in the draft, EASY. Berry is the better player. Thomas has had the better year. By far.
Also...
Jordan shipley was named as one of the 3 Finalists for the Biletnikoff Award along with Golden Tate from ND and Freddie Barnes from Bowling Green. It was said on one of those Twitter accounts someone from from ESPN has and they update it on the CFB homepage.
When I get a stable link, I’ll post a fanshot of it so it can be discussed there.

Still can't believe Shipley wasn't a finalist last year.
