Texas A&M rolling out new helmets for Thursday night game...
After A&M's recent misadventures with their retro uniforms so far this season, I would have thought the Aggies might have wanted to ditch the whole concept of change to wrap up the season. However, this link shows the new helmet to pay homage to the Bonfire victims from 10 years ago.

I am sure they are going to use this as a rallying cry. The first quarter of the game Thursday night will be hell for the Longhorns in terms of the fans & the excitement in the air. Yet, all Texas needs to do is weather the maroon storm for that quarter, play their style of offense & defense the entire game, and talent & coaching will win out...

Pretty neat

Looks like they’ll really try to feed off the 10 year anniversary.

you know?
Its almost a shame that were gonna kick their ass on such a special occasion. I feel bad for the victims of the bonfire but these players were like 9 or 10 when that happened. So as far as I’m concerned its go time. HOOK EM HORNS!!!
I even named my son Kolt.

not sure how much of a rallying cry it will be
I think the rivalry itself will be more cause for playing hard than the 10 year anniversary.
In ‘99, one of the 12 who died was the best friend of one of our starting LBs. The player cancelled practice and came over to the site to help move logs and clear the stack. It was PERSONAL for them; I don’t think there is any such connection for our current players. Some of them may vaguely remember the news reports, but I would think that is about it.
I am all for honoring their memory and remembering what happened; I just hope we aren’t doing this again in 2019. I think doing a memorial service on November 18 and keeping the memory of what happened alive for all Aggies is appropriate; I admit I’m somewhat split on using it as a helmet decal.
At least it is appropriate, though.
It Could Hinge on Exploitation
We all mourned with Aggieland and the memorial is totally warranted, but it seems to be going a bit far in the motivational arena.
It it tasteful
When I read this (from Robertpz’s point of view) I really expected something totally classless or retarded. But this turned out well. I hope they don’t exploit this for years to come, though. I think this is a nice gesture. Any further gestures should come in the form of a permanent plaque or some kind of marker in the stadium.
I dont’ think it’s too far of a change from y’alls normal helmets to make that much of a difference. Tradition-wise, or motivational-wise. I think it being the Texas game is all the motivatin the players need.
I hate A&M as much as the next longhorn but
those helmets are bad ass. too bad this is about 2 months old

I'm sure I'm going to get blasted for this, but...
…I am sick of the bonfire memorials. First and foremost, let’s try to remember that the bonfire tragedy happened on 11/18/99. So, the 10-year anniversary was actually closer to…the aTm / Baylor game. But I don’t recall a lot of memorial hoopla last weekend in College Station. So, what they’re actually doing is celebrating the anniversary of the 10th game against Texas since their bonfire collapsed.
I’m sure their argument is, “Well, it happened just before the Texas game, so to honor them, we will remember them before this current Texas game.” Which is great if they win. If they don’t win, will they say they dishonored their fallen comrades? Of course not. So, in my opinion, they’re not honoring their fallen friends; they’re using the admittedly tragic deaths of those students to motivate their sniveling, mediocre football team and fan base into performing an otherworldy, super-human feat: Beating a supremely superior opponent.
I was proud of our band and their performance during that game ten years ago; a little less so of our football team, which allowed the hapless, undermanned ags to rise up and beat them. However, I have just about enough of this kindly big-brother routine we’re pulling. This is hate week. I hate these people.
I hate their colors; maroon is the color of a bloody turd. I hate their swaying. I hate their chanting. I hate their cheerleaders. I hate their mascot. I hate their military-wanna-be cadets morons. I hate their inbred delusional fans. I hate College Station. I hate Bryan. I hate Dave South. I hate yell practice. I hate football fields you can’t walk on. I hate Rick Perry.
Man I feel better. I may come back later and post some more stuff I hate about these people. In the meantime, feel free to chip in. Let’s ratchet up the hate. Hook ’em.
Really? Does my signature suck?
I also hate typos.

I admire your passion
Let’s hope our team is as ready and focused as you seem to be.

Let us not go there.
No one wants to beat the Aggies more than this Longhorn fan, but we have more class than to travel this low road.

I don't know why I keep trolling over at texags.com
Because all it does is piss me off. Can I just say again how much I hate those people (my lovely wife excepted, of course)? What a bunch of redneck mouthbreathing assclowns. I hope College Station gets pulled up into the vortex of suck their football team creates tomorrow night.
29.5 hours and counting.

All I was sayin' was...
A&M hasn’t faired too well changing up their uniforms this season. In terms of the bonfire, I think they should have worn a patch all season paying respect to such a school tragedy vs. a one-time helmet change. Either way, come gameday, both sides of the field will honor their memory before the game, beat the hell out of each other during the game, & shake hands afterwards. However, in the end, I think Texas will have the upper-hand in the butt-kicking department when the dust settles!
Everyone have a great Thanksgiving! Hook ’em!
Good Honor
i thought the A&M helmets looked great and served their intended purpose. it was an honor
and tribute. our helmets did not look great.
and i hate to admit florida’s uniforms v florida state looked good also.
things we can work on after 14-0!
