Varez Ward likely out for the season
Damn, I didn't mean for this to be the way to keep him and Mason from being on the floor at the same time. That really stinks for a kid who seems to have been coming on strong. At least for the teams sake we are exceptionally deep at guard, especially come December. Get well soon Varez.
If you missed it last night, Varez looked to have landed funny on his knee last night during warm-ups. No contact, no freaky jump either, just a funny landing. He left on a stretcher before the game started.
Update via Jeff Goodman (Fox): "Texas sophomore guard Varez Ward will miss six to 10 months with a torn quadriceps, according to multiple sources."

That's no good - I think he really added depth
Does anyone know if basketball players can get medical redshirts similar to football players? If so, he should be able to get one.
saying varez ward is out for the year for this team is like
saying jimmie johnson wont win nascar because he is missing a passenger seat in his car
sure i love ward, but the depth of our team makes this loss seem somewhat bearable
if this would have happened last year, i’d be devastated

Guard is probably where we could take the hit the best
But it still sucks to see a guy like Varez go down, can also be a real killer on his development. Hope he gets better soon.

That's too bad
Hope he gets an extra year as a result of this.

Its really unfortunate
I seen the replay of when it happened. Even if were deep, he is still someone I wanted to see play

Wrong.
Goodman’s report says that Ward may miss 6-10 WEEKS, not 6-10 months.
The injury, according to Goodman, is not thought to be season-ending.
Incorrect.
Its 6-10 months.

He first said on his twitter WEEKS but the reality is MONTHS.

Apparently, I'm wrong.
His twitter said weeks and “non-season ending” but he’s changed that to now read “months” and “season-ending.”
Ward WILL be out for season with season ENDING surgery
