ESPN 5 Star Tony Jefferson De-commits from UCLA after being "disrespected" by team for wearing USC jersey to game
This kid is so stupid that he would be perfect fit for OU. Our Defense could probably tell him he is running in the wrong direction and get him to go score for us. Seriously, this was just too funny not to post even though it has nothing to do with Texas.
Five-star athlete Tony Jefferson (Chula Vista, Calif./Eastlake) decommitted from UCLA following an official visit to USC and will now decide for either the Trojans or the Oklahoma Sooners, ESPN's Greg Biggins reports.
"The UCLA players really disrespected me before the game," Jefferson said. "When they saw me, they were all cussing at me, telling me to never come around Westwood again and things like that. These were guys that I had hung out with before and it was a lot of the team. I guess I kind of see it since I was committed there and was wearing USC gear before their big game but I still didn't appreciate it."
The nation's No. 1-rated ATH will not take anymore trips. "Oklahoma is coming over Tuesday for a home visit. I'm sure USC will be coming in too but we haven't discussed it yet. Like I said, right now, the two are dead even and I really like both schools a lot. This whole recruiting thing has been crazy and I can't wait for it to end. There has been so many twists and turns but it should be over soon and I'll be glad when it is."
The ESPNU 150 prospect initially committed to Stanford as a junior.

Could you imagine
if a Horn commit wore an OU jersey to the RRR? Kid is an idiot for thinking it wouldnt cause problems. Just a way for the attention to be on him. Horrible…
The "Big Bang" was actually a Will Muschamp chestbump......with the Earth!
I can't imagine what was going through the kid's head
He obviously meant this as an attention-whoring way to inform UCLA that he wasn’t going there anymore.

You Lose 100 Points
For mentioning the USC UCLA game in the same breath as the RRS. One is a west coast dalliance to end the season – the other a war that decides the fate of your entire season.
Except for last season...when you could lose there and go ahead and get the nod to the MNC.
I just threw up in my mouth.

If he can't wait for it to end
then why would he wear the jersey? Of course OU is wasting resources on an in-home — this kid must be the long-lost brother of a certain Sooner defensive tackle.
This is what I thought
He can’t wait for it to end … then stop acting like an ass and make a decision already. This is the kind of kid nobody needs on their team.
haha
what a joke!
how was he initially committed to Stanford? don’t they have somewhat tougher academic standards than most schools?

He probably found out about the academic standards...
…while wearing a Cal jersey.

I wish you could see what I pictured when I read this
“I guess I kind of see it since I was committed there and was wearing USC gear before their big game”
Oh, well I’m glad you kinda see it, you giant doofus. (I don’t hate passing judgment on kids)
If he was committed, why was he visiting other schools?
This is his second decommit?
God, I hate kids like this. He shouldn’t be eligible for college.

This is how I feel about it as well
The kid angle doesn’t work with me. I know that teenagers do stupid things. I was one not very long ago. But one thing that never escaped me was recognizing the necessity to treat people with respect, especially when it has been shown to you. There is no excuse for the way he behaved.
Everyone understands changing your mind, but this does not sound like it’s that simple. This sounds like a very calculated move on Jefferson’s part. He obviously spent enough time around UCLA’s coaches, players, staff, etc., to want to commit to them. He knew USC was their “big game.” And yet, he still had the gall to show up wearing a USC jersey and get pissed at the Bruin players for calling him out.
I agree that it almost comes across like he didn’t have the balls to pick up the phone and say “thanks but no thanks” to Rick Neuheisel, so instead, he pulls a dumbass move like this and points the finger of blame at UCLA players for not applauding his stunt.
Exactly
He was just too chickensh— to take ownership of his decision to decommit, so he pulled a stunt. I hope he does go to USC, and that he gets smacked by UCLA while he’s there.

Guys..
Understandably this was about as dumb a move as you could pull. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that that wasn’t going to turn out good. But, don’t you think you all are being a little harsh. Maybe he thought it would be funny. Obviously, he didn’t think it would garner the response that it did. I’m only 26 years old, so 18 wasn’t all that long ago for me. But, I think we can all attest that we weren’t as smart then as we are now (at least that should be the case). Not just speaking about this kid specifically but all the recruits in general. I think we should be a lot easier on them when they make boneheaded decisions/mistakes.

but to be surprised that wearing your rivals colors is going to piss off some people? that’s just stupid in my opinion.

I'm 27, and I don't think I'm being harsh at all
Of course I wasn’t as smart at 17 as I am at 27. But this isn’t about intelligence. It’s about respect.
It doesn’t take a genius to know that what this kid did was disrespectful and wrong, not to mention stupid. This wasn’t some split second decision he made that maybe he deserves a pass on. He was committed to UCLA. He made a premeditated decision to wear a USC jersey to what he called UCLA’s “big game.” He knew exactly what he was doing.
Kids do things like this for attention, and adults waving it off as simple immaturity is the reason it continues to happen. If there were actual consequences attached to such behavior, it would stop.
It's almost like these kids think they're WWF wrestlers
All the stupid and childish storylines they’re adding are just circus acts. Lache’s been relatively quiet on that front, which is why I don’t criticize him as much as some do, but I think that’s one thing Mack’s squad has used to pare down prospect lists.

All great points..
and it may all be true. My point is that making mistakes and being an idiot is the mark of adolescence, not learning from those mistakes is what ultimately makes you stupid.
Vince Young >Tim Tebow.
I disagree
This guy just wants a circus around him. I was fortunate enough to play college football, albeit on a smaller level and when I went on visits it never crossed my mind to wear shirts or hats of the other schools that were recruiting me. That is just asinine and an attention grab.

wasn’t this the kid that expressed interested in UT once our recruiting had slowed down, was a big-ish story just because he’s an OOS 5*.

what an A/#
I think if you being that adolescent (stupid) to do something like that why would a coach want you?If you played sports at all you are competitive and you know not to wear the jersey of a rival.he’s just a DB and that’s not defensive back.
sounds perfect for the sooners...
after all, AP decided to go to OUsux to win a title…whoops.

Does anyone else
feel like these guys are encouraged to be A- holes sometimes by such commitment rituals as the stupid “hat-choosing” ceremony? Frankly, its pretty disgusting to watch entire organizations (and proud ones at that) )wait with bated breath to see which hat a 17 year old kid will pick up on national television.

I refuse to watch ESPN for a number of things
And one of the times I refuse to watch is the national signing day coverage. Normally I’m all for increased recruiting coverage, but they don’t just allow these illiterate morons to do the snickering hat-switch tricks and crap like that, they actually encourage it. It’s ridiculous.
