PrintHey guys, I was considering purchasing Big XII Championship tickets tomorrow when they go on sale. Will that jinx it? I have superstitious tendencies. Also, how many of y'all are buying tomorrow or already have tickets?
Our remaining slate isn't too terribly difficult but the fact remains that there are f o u r games left, and we actually have to play them. The coaches should keep them focused, but what do you all think?

Last time I did, we lost to KSU and A&M back to back and would have had to watch OU and NU. And I couldn’t sell the damn things because no one wanted to watch that beat down.
Same thing happened to me but I did sell my tickets-on the plane to Kansas City.
Some poor Nebraska fan paid $100 and I was happy to keep my butt in the hotel instead of freezing Arrowhead.

That you can pay $550 to sign up with a team. If they make it – you go – if not you get your money back.
Actually, that's wrong
I investigated the site a few days ago, and you would not get your money back if you were to place a team reservation and UT were to not go. Here’s how it works:
1. You bid on a reservation for Texas to make it to the title game, and if you win the bid for the reservation, you are charged for it. Let’s say it’s $540, because I think that’s where it was the other day when I posted it here in BON. This $540 reserves the number of specified tickets for you in case UT makes the title game.
2. If UT makes it to the title game, your card is charged $275 per ticket for the number of tickets for which your reservation specifiied, so your total cost is $540 for the reservation plus $275 per ticket. If UT does not make it to the title game (knocking on particle board, paper, and the splinter in my pinky), your card is not charged the $275 per ticket, and you are NOT refunded the $540 for the reservation bid.
Kinda risky, but maybe not so risky if you’re pretty confident about UT’s chances.

Can't really fault the customers
I understand that the temptation to swallow a bunch of chemicals that form an intestinal cast that one can then proceed to pull out of one’s arse like a 5000yd. passer at Tech is irresistable.

Just to be clear...it's $540 reservation fee PER TICKET...
So if you wanted 4 tickets, it is $2160 plus tax, non-refundable, now, for 4.
Then if Texas wins, it is an additional $270 charged per ticket, or an additional $1080 for the 4 (plus tax)
So the total comes to $540 plus $270 or $810 per ticket.
This is really genius for the Tournament of Roses guys, because they can sell the reservation fee for the same seats over and over, to fans of any team that thinks it might get to the game.

Because they’re guaranteed to only have to “pay out” to two sets of team reservations, and even then, they’re getting another $275/ticket, not returning any money.

Y'all are missing where they make their real money.
The site only gets what they sold the original “options” for, and the money after that goes to the owner of the option. For Texas & UF that was 90-100 per ticket depending on when you bought the ticket before they sold the initial allotment. BUT, they get 7% off the top of every buyer and 10 freaking % off every seller. So every time an option is bought/sold, the company gets 17% of that sales price… genius. A buddy of mine actually made a model for it…sad but true. Not sad is the fact that his model has made me a couple K’s and will likely be funding my whole trip.

Still not that bad
considering I paid $1000 in 2005 and was damn lucky to do so. No one else I knew could get a ticket. I remember arriving in front of the Rose Bowl and someone waved a handful of cash in the air exclaiming “I have $2000 for any ticket! Any ticket!” And no one in the vicinity even blinked.
Conversely, I traded two 2004 Rose Bowl tickets for four T-Shirts
There were actually tickets on the ground on the way into the Rose Bowl that year.
It’s a crapshoot. IF we get to the MNC and play a team that travels well like Florida or Alabama, it’s probably a good deal. But, if someone else manages to sneak in there, you may be able to find tickets cheaper on game day.
Here’s some historical prices.
National Championship Average Ticket Price:
2009 – $684
2008 – $1362
2007 – $1329
2006 – $1175
It’s interesting that last year’s price was so cheap, especially considering it was played at the Orange Bowl.
I'm not even looking at tickets.
Last time I did that was right about this time last season…I’m way too superstitious for that. Don’t talk about it, don’t even think about it unless there is a wooden object close-by to knock on.

I bought them in 2005
right after we beat OU. It worked out just fine.
I bought my Rose Bowl tix
about a month before the game off Ebay. I paid a $1,000 for each each ticket but it was the best grand I’ve ever spent. Being there in person was amazing.

question for students
How many tickets is each student allowed for the NC/Bowl games? Is it a lottery process? Just as an FYI i have priority student seating, so basically better than senior status.
