Why All The Media Doubting?
I'm having trouble figuring out why the media is so dead set on finding reasons that Texas is unworthy of it gift of a BCS title shot, while close wins by Florida and Bama throughout the season have not been punished in the same manner.
Is Auburn an obviously far superior team than aTm? So much so that a close win by Bama (in a low scoring affair) over Auburn, is more impressive than an all out offensive close win by Texas over aTm?
I'm obviously a Horns supporter, but things like this article seem to want to draw more comparisons to our 2001 team than our 2005 team. (It's worth pointing out that in this article he mentions our clear path to the MNC in 2001, even though that path was not clear until minutes before kickoff of the Big XII Championship game, when Tennessee lost).
Also, is it wrong that I relish the underrating and lack of respect being bestowed upon us by the rest of the nation? I almost want to suffer through the Tebow felating that the media is about to drop on us for the next month, just to shut them up in Pasa-get down-dena.
One last meandering thought. Would you rather face Alabama or Florida in the MNC game? I'd vote for Bama, because I think both defenses are stout, but that we would definitely score more points than them...too simple?

I have often wondered...
why the media consistently tries to discredit the Longhorns. Save for Mike Lupica and Herbie last season, I found few who felt we got hosed…they got the matchup they wanted between OU and the Tebows. It was one boring affair and I am convinced that the Horns would have decimated Florida last year.
I also believe that the fact that McCoy is not having the numbers of last season is causing some people to think this year’s team is not as worthy as last year’s. Even though we are 12-0…there are 5 other unbeatens garnering attention…I did predict there would 5 back in September. Cincy could slip up against a highly motivated Pitt team, but I think Cincy has enough firepower to get by them. That Pitt loss really hurt the SOS for the Kats. Back to my point…I think that the Big XII being down this year has spread to “is Texas really that good?” But I agree with you…Bama and Florida consistently get passes for their sub-par performances while the Horns get scrutinized.
It’s garbage…and the editor who allowed it on the air is garbage! Mike Gundy I love you.

For some reason, every team's fans feels their team doesn't get enough credit.
Last year, Texas was ‘hosed’ by their own conference’s tie-breaker, not the media. Of course, all Texas had to do to avoid getting hosed was to push Crabtree out of bounds.
Sad to say but the root cause of the blatant Left Coast media bias
is the 4 horseman of the conservative apocalypse….Bush, Cheney, Enron, and Halliburton. For some reason they associate all things in Texas with these controversial figureheads. This ain’t no conspiracy theory either.

BTW, I want Florida. Badly.

Me too.
Show them what they’re lucky they missed last year.

I just like to sit back.
Sit back and enjoy this ride we’re on this year, because just like in 2005, in retrospect all this lack of hype for Texas will be funny once we have the title under our belt. The fact that others may not appreciate what Colt, Shipley, et al. have done for our program over the past couple of years as much as I appreciate them does not make me appreciate them any less. So my advice is to just let it go in one ear and then out the other, because what we have is great in mine and surely all of our BON friends’ opinions, and nothing the media thinks can take that away from me.
Enjoy the next two wins… Hook ’Em!!!!
Did you read the article?
It is an attempt to explain the malaise about the Big 12 Championship compared to the SEC championship. He did not say that the Longhorns are not worthy of playing in the MNC.
Is Auburn an obviously far superior team than aTm? So much so that a close win by Bama (in a low scoring affair) over Auburn, is more impressive than an all out offensive close win by Texas over aTm?
No, but as he explained in the article, Texas has had a relatively easy road to the MNC compared to Bama and Florida, which is true.
Also, he drew one comparison to 2005 and one comparison to 2001, I really think you need to reduce the tint in your glasses.
probably more of the overall sentiment that has him irked...I get it.

It was just one example I was drawing...
…I wasn’t writing a research paper on the ESPN article. Also, I wasn’t so much saying that the author of that article had it out for Texas, so much as he was also pointing out how much of the country views us as seemingly unfit.
Many times throughout this season I have been in disgust at our inability to put it together, but I have seen glimpses of our potential realized, and I fear no longer
I am a homer, but trust me, I am able to see reality as well. The tint on my glasses is just fine. Everything looks so warm in the amber hues of burnt orange in the autumn

checked out your pic, thats hilarious. Wasn’t your prior pic also a monkey in the form of the horns swinging from the trees? Some kind of fascination with the friendly apes heh?
Apes on this blog
started from this but the monkey arms comment has been around since I started swatting PB’s attempts at jump shots back in 8th grade.
Then I saw this on EDSBS and decided it needed to be my new pic.

But I could not have a green monkey, so I did some work with the GIMP (PB could have done it with MS Paint, but I don’t have those kind of skills)
I don't get the Media doubting.
No one said anything when Alabama and Florida barely won close games earlier this season. I’m not too worried though. It doesn’t really bother me too much. No one will question us once we win the national title.

I think it is more about their schedules being tougher than ours than any kind of media bias.
Kind of like how we dismiss USC, tOSU and any team from the Big East because of their conference most years.
But as you said, we will get our shot to quite them all.
I agree
that it’s preferable for the media to disrespect the Longhorns. History has shown that they respond well when disrespected. Hype is the enemy. It’s always better to have that motivation to prove yourself.

I'd like UT to play Florida
In the event UT wins, Tebow can inspire another plaque when promising he’ll never lose another college game again.
It's not so much the disrespect that we haven't beaten anyone
that gets me, I know this has been a down year for the conference and doesn’t really reflect well on us, but the constant Tebow circle jerk week after week makes me want to vomit. “Colt McCoy and Texas struggle to pull out a win meanwhile Tim Tebow wills his team to victory once more!” Bleh.
