Cobbs visit seals commitment ($)
After committing to Texas a little more than a week ago, all DeMarco Cobbs had to do was finally make it down to Austin to speak with Mack Brown and confirm his intentions to sign with the Longhorns. While that sounds pretty simple, given his history of being unable to make it down to Central Texas, it was hardly a given that Cobbs would come through this time.
Fortunately for Texas fans excited about seeing the playmaker in burnt orange, Cobbs did make it into town. After leaving Tulsa late Friday night after his final regular season game, Cobbs and a friend stayed in Dallas overnight and left for Austin. Following the Texas victory over UCF, Cobbs sat down with Brown, telling him that he does not plan to keep in contact with any teams. Barring any unexpected developments, then, Cobbs will officially become a Longhorn in February.

Outstanding
It would be nice if he could take over the #25 from Jeremy Hills

Awesome news
This guy is a stud, but I really thought we had no chance at him. He was totally off my radar. I"m glad he finally had a friend that helped him make it to Austin. I wish him the best and can’t wait to see him rock it in burnt orange.

Great news. However, I will remain cautiously optimistic until signing day.

Position
Cobbs has a huge frame. His shoulders are wide and he looks like he could put on a ton of weight.
Brewster was a similar size coming into UT but I see Cobbs ending up bigger. Some like him at safety but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him ending up as the OLB we wanted Aaron Franklin to be.
He’s not a natural pass catcher.

Gerry Hamilton had this to say:
I don’t have a mixed view. He is a football player plain and simple. Throw out 40-times, he’s quick, can stick his foot in the ground and accelerate and is very strong. There is a short step burst with every cut. He’s explosive for 15-20 yards.
I think safety would be interesting to look at with him. Like his physicality.

Good stuff
Hadn’t seen that from Gerry. This class is great, with a chance to be off the charts.

I'm a little surprised about the position discussion
It seemed a consensus that he would be a WR. I guess we’ll see.

Would that leave D White still in the mix?
I would really like to get there quick with Hicks and Jeffcoat and I would think this move could stir the waters a bit. I understand Hicks will announce in December. Anyone heard when Jeffcoat was going to announce?
