Home Depot College Football Awards Show Open Thread
The Home Depot College Football Awards Show is tonight at 6 PM CST with the Red Carpet (seriously?) at 5. Many Longhorns are up for awards that will be announced tonight, including:
Biletnikoff Award for Best Reciever- Jordan Shipley- UPDATE- Golden Tate of Notre Dame won.
Davey O'Brien Award for Best Quarterback- Colt McCoy- UPDATE- Colt has won it.
Maxwell Award for Best Player- Colt McCoy- McCoy wins! 4th Longhorn to do so.
Rimington Trophy for Best Center- Chris Hall- UPDATE- Pouncey of Florida took it.
Thorpe Award for Best Defensive Back- Earl Thomas- UPDATE- Eric Berry won it. Still love Earl.
Walter Camp Award for Best Player- Colt McCoy- UPDATE- Colt has won for the second straight year. First player since Archie Griffin to do so.
Colt is a favorite to take home the O'Brien and is right in the mix for the Maxwell and Camp Awards. Shipley has a good chance to win the Biletnikoff and Hall and Thomas have a chance to win as well.
Who else is watching? Hook 'em.

Also, the WCFF All-America Team will be announced. It is one of five All-America teams recognized by the NCAA, the others being Sporting News, AFCA, AP, and FWAA.
Thanks for the thread.
Nice to be able to keep up from work.
Shipley winning the Biletnikoff over Tate would be just criminal
Then again, so would Eric Berry winning over the Earl.
Congrats to COLT on the Walter CAMP Award
Great guy, great QB…gives credit to our Creator.
Hooking em to a Another National Championship.
REMINGTON AWARD.....
NO offense to Chris Hall…..but its hard to see him winning after that night against Suh.
Hooking em to a Another National Championship.
he has an edge
The award is based purely on first team votes in these 4 All American teams, and since Chris has already been named first team by the AFCA he’s got a shot.
Chris Fowler
made some jokes at the expense of Texas as the show got underway.
When referring to Colt being up for the first and last award, he said they would be sure to use every second lol something like that.
He also told Saban that if he needed a loan, Mack was sitting in the next aisle

I was more amused by the fact that very few people were laughing
saban and brown didnt even pretend to think the money thing was funny
The colt comment was pretty funny. The loan joke was a little lame though

What do you guys think
Earl’s chances are of winning the Thorpe? I personally would award him over Berry, of course, but I see it going to Berry.

I LOVE EARL
“Every time you turn on ESPN you see Alabama.” He knows what he has to do. Solid.

it's so awkward putting players/coaches who'll be playing up against each other
Cody and Thomas, Saban and Mack…it was all stilted and awkward
Motivation to kick ass in Pasadena.

I was hoping they'd pick a sophomore . . .
On the plus side, something for Earl to think about for next season. He’ll have the name by then. I feared Thomas winning the Thorpe and us, uh, not losing to Alabama might spur ET to the NFL.
Hook 'em!

Ingram
going empty-handed… wow..
senior name-recognition?
CONGRATS! COLT!
Now
if only ingram could win the heisman, gain twenty pounds on the circuit, and come in to the game hyped and sluggish!
Hook'em!!
Sounds like Mark's night might be Saturday...
They practically awarded (deservedly) every possible award that Colt has been eligible for so far this month. Perhaps they are showering him with all of this trophies to help take his mind off of not winning the Heisman. Despite Dayne & Ricky winning career Heismans, I think Colt might be out of luck come Saturday night. Oh well, he can put that behind him & go on and bring a BCS Title home! Hook ’em!

This is shaping up to be a monster showdown
BAMA is getting most of the pre-game predictions(Texas motivation) and Texas and the Big 12 getting the awards love(BAMA motivation). Not that either team needs any motivation. If either team needs this kind of motivation, then they have already lost.
BTW, if Ingram wins the Heistman Saturday, I doubt it will affect him too much. He is pretty grounded and he will probably turn down most of the circuit calls. Saban will not allow him to spend too much time away from game prep.
Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs
BTW, congrats on the awards...
…but we both know, the only award that really matters is the one that looks like a crystal Stewie Griffin head. May the best team take home the Family Guy trophy. heh

McClain got the Bednarik
I guess Colt did beat Ingram out for the Walter Camp and Maxwell Awards.
Heisman on Saturday’s looking like Ingram. Congrats if so.
