Kirkendoll Latest Horn to Get Big Apple Invite
It was big news that Colt McCoy was honored as a Heisman finalist in New York City after winning several awards the week before. Under the radar, a lesser known Longhorn will be honored for his performance in the Big XII championship game. I can't find the link, but James Kirkendoll will be in Times Square to drop the big ball to mark the coming of the New Year. He is excited, as it is truly the only opportunity to have a bigger drop than the Nebraska game.

That’s how much his drop cost us in the game.

Is it bad....
That when I first read “Kirkendoll Latest Horn” I immediately thought it was going to say latest horn to get a DUI, arrest, etc.? That’s not good, obviously.
+1 for making me blink
I immediately wondered what twisted award committee picked him as a finalist for something

jeez
its been over a week, time to let it go.
another jeez
I don’t like to see ripping our guys for inexplicably bad play. We can comment on it without bitterness and humiliation added to it.
I expect all receivers to drop a ball every now and then. I remember Shipley dropping a pass in last year’s TT game that looked just like Kirk’s big drop in the NU game. What did amaze me was that Kirk dropped everything thrown at him that he got his hands on, and his effort to get to others was lackadasical. I really wonder if he was sick, or if his contacts fell out, or something…

yeah
while you’re at it, why don’t you bring up Blake Gideon again?
it’s not like the pass hit off of his chest… why not blame McCoy for throwing it too far? It hit off of his fingertips. Let’s just call it a near miss… don’t try to lay blame on a single player, especially when we win.

Nor am I
The kid’s been great. I’d like to know of another two-star freshman who has ever received as much criticism despite beating out a lot of much more highly rated players for the starting job.

I'm not bitter...
I was being sarcastic. The OP was bringing up Kirkendoll way after the game, so I was saying as long as you’re bringing up players not making a play long after the fact, why not bring up Gideon. Could have gone farther back and brought up Simms throwing interceptions, defense against OU several years back, etc., because those all have something in common with the Kirk “drop”- they’re all in the past and irrelevant now.

really?
there’s not any part of you that is bitter about that drop? We should be playing for our 2nd in a row. I know stuff happens, but to me, he is Bill Buckner. He might have a great career, but that drop will be his legacy.
