Alabama National Championship Sticker Available

Alabama is apparently convinced that the MNC game is a done deal.  They have '13th National Championship Stckers' all ready to go.  Order yours here

The ad says:  Show your pride in the team's 13th National Championship! As our tradition grows, so does our pride. Show you support and purchase a sticker for yourself, friends, and family.

Darn it...every time Texas gets to the MNC it turns out there's no reason to even bother getting off the bus.

Great for motivation...

Send that page to Mack Brown and the rest of the team to see.

Like I have always said...

…if you need something like that to fire you up for a game like this, you have already lost. I believe neither team will need any motivation from the other teams fans.

Well since you said it...

In fairness to RBR. That is a funny thing to “have always said” since it’s basically false.

by tblog123 on Dec 19, 2009 5:25 PM CST up reply actions

I don't think it is false

It may help fire a team up a little but honestly, both of these teams should have plenty of motivation. There is “disrespect” from any opponents fans. I am quite sure these UT players have seen it before, just as ours have.

no bamachine

That would be EXTRA motivation. More like extra determination. I never said they weren’t motivated.

The great thing about Bama football is . . .

. . . that sticker can be made now, risk-free. Even if Texas wins, Bama can just go ahead and retroactively claim a championship from 1932 or something like that. Voila! 13 championships!

by Hopkins Horn on Dec 18, 2009 10:38 PM CST reply actions

Heh

If we win, I will actually claim 12 now. I do not claim the ‘41 title. I also do not own any hats, shirts or anything that says Got 12. So I will not be out any spent money, if we win. If you read most of the BAMA fans on EDSBS are not happy with that sticker. Also, someone on there claims that the owners of that site are Auburn grads. May be just trying to cash in on some of our overzealous fans. Many BAMA fans will buy anything with BAMA on it. Also, if it is AU guys, they may be also trying to pull a little reverse hex voodoo on us. Trust me, you will find your fanbase swelled by at least 75% of Auburn’s fanbase, heh.

Pretty easy to blame the step brother isn't it...

All my Bama friends are drinking the cocky Koolaid. Isn’t the stereotype that Texans are the arrogant ones?

by tvr'11 on Dec 18, 2009 11:12 PM CST up reply actions

It turns out they are AU grads...

,,,that are going to BAMA for law school. It may not be for a sinister reason but it definitely is to take advantage of those I mentioned that will buy anything BAMA related.

We have also been labeled as the most arrogant fanbase in college football. It is usually our rivals that point this out, as I am sure UT hears it from TAMU. All fanbases have their arrogant fans then there are the realistic but confident ones like myself. I do not think we are going to blow UT out of the water and we could realistically lose. I do have confidence in my team though.

It's also important to remember...

Every time there is a championship for any major sport, there always seems to be people who print up memorabilia for both teams before the game is played. It happens every year for the super bowl, for instance- two different versions of “Congrats (Team name here) Super Bowl Champs!”

It’s just people trying to get a jump on merchandise- don’t read too much into it. As I’ve said before, very, very few (if any) ‘Bama fans think we’re in for an easy game. We’re hunkered down for a war, and wouldn’t want it any other way!

Sure, people sometimes print up two versions of the merchandise

The teams print hats and shirts to put on during the postgame celebrations. And we will be able to buy hastily printed “Texas National Champions” shirts as we walk out of the Rose Bowl in a few weeks.
But I have never seen them for ‘pre-order’ on the internet 3 weeks early. That is way over the top !

Oh I agree...

But regardless of who has made them (there are allegations that the stickers are made by fans of our rival school), the fact remains that very few Alabama fans see this game as a foregone conclusion. The vast majority (90%+) of us are prepared for an absolute war against a great Texas Longhorn team. If you had asked ‘Bama fans a few years ago who we would prefer to face in our next national title shot, I guarantee Texas would have been one of the most popular, if not the single most popular answer. The fact that we’re facing an unbeaten Texas team is even better. If we manage to win this game, there will be no doubt that we are the best team in the nation…and the same applies to Texas, should they win. This is a truly great match up between two worthy opponents.

I agree. The closer the game approaches, the less I think that anything is a foregone conclusion for either side. Offense or defense.

BTW, why do you think that Tide Nation would have preferred to face the Longhorns above other teams? I didn’t realize we were getting that kind of attention in the Deep South.

by tblog123 on Dec 21, 2009 1:42 AM CST up reply actions

One word...

Tradition.
We ‘Bama fans are full of it. We, in our wildest dreams, wanted to see Alabama return to prominence. We wanted to see the Alabama that ran roughshod all over the rest of the nation rise once again. And we wanted to see it happen against another program that had the kind of pedigree that we had. Penn State. Ohio State. USC. Michigan. Oklahoma. And TEXAS. We have a lot of love and respect for Texas because in terms of history and tradition, Texas is one of the very few teams in the nation that can match us, not just in terms of being a nationally prominent program, but in terms of mentality. Texas has built its’ history, its’ tradition, on hard-nosed, no nonsense, old school football. Texas is not a Johnny-Come-Lately, rather they are a tradition rich program rooted in a tough mentality.

We love Texas because Texas, both the team and the fanbase, feels much of the same way we do about football. You guys have such a tough attitude towards the game, and so do we. We could not ask for a more worthy opponent. Whatever trash our fans may talk, the fact remains that there is no team we’d rather face. Win or lose, we are all looking forward to one Hell of a game. Yes, I want Alabama to win this MNC…But if another team in the country has to win it, I’m glad to know it will be Texas.

You guys know the game. You appreciate it as we do. You have been there before, as have we. You have a tradition as rich as our own. God bless Texas, and God bless the Crimson TIde. You will have our attention in the Deep South as long as Texas keeps being Texas, which I hope will be for a very long time to come. Roll Tide!!!

Amen to that. Best of luck to your Tide, but Hook ’Em on January 7.
