Best Ticket Option for Pasadena
was lucky enough to not have to worry about this in '05 but am trying to determine the best ticket option for Pasadena. Have my hotel and travel taken care of but trying to decide on the ticket before this weekend's game. Ticket City? person to person? I hate to wait and scalp there but it is pretty easy to do out there. What is everyone else doing? Trying to avoid $700. ;-) Hook 'Em!

Ticket option
If you’re flying from Houston I suggest Continental; from Dallas, American.
Just kidding. Of the online ticket brokers, I feel StubHub is consistently the best option. Their prices are pretty competitive, if not always the best. They also have the most reliable brand name. Finally, their surcharges aren’t completely out of whack like Ticket City’s. Case in point: I bought my OU tickets off StubHub. Ticket City was $20 cheaper on the site, but after surcharges, went up to $20 more. And they’re a freakin’ Austin company too. Ridiculous.
+1 on his thoughts.

Ticketmaster
According to the Rose Bowl website, ticketmaster will have a limited supply of nat’l championship tickets on sale starting Sept. 15 @ 8:00am for face value.

If you’re quick enough to get them while they last, it’s definitely the cheapest option
Easy to get out there??
That wasn’t the case for Texas- USC, but then again, that was likely due to the fact that we were playing in USC’s backyard. Maybe it won’t be as difficult if Texas makes it and matches up with Florida/Bama.
Does anyone remember how many tickets get allocated by the Rose Bowl to each school? I was amazed only 12K were allocated for Saturday’s game. Is it about the same, or is the allocation much larger?
Is that right?
I don’t think UT is getting half the tickets in the whole stadium. I’d be surprised if we got 1/4th.
I am hearing 2 numbers based on some sleuthing I did after I posted this – 19K and 24K. Not sure which, if either, is right.
Depends
Ticketmaster – unless you have one of the fastest connections or are lucky with calling their phone line, don’t count on it.
The schools don’t get half of the tickets, it’s less than that, but only by a little. Of those tickets, yes…10% go to students…basically just Seniors…I only requested one ticket for the last NC game, and got it….and felt like that’s why I did.
firstdibz.com – buy someone’s reservation on a ticket (or be lucky (like me) to have bought one months ago)
I don’t recommend going to the game without a ticket and expecting to find one at the game. Because I remember at the last one, from my experience, there was NO ONE selling tickets outside the game.
FYI Be Aware
I remember meeting several people who “bought tickets” to the NC game on the train to Pasadena, (Via Ebay, craigs list ect.) One girl paid $2000.00 each for 2 tickets. Never got them.
I would ensure that you only buy from a reputable scalping agent such as Stubb Hubb or Ticket City. Its going to cost you probably more than $700.00 but at least you will be assured that you have a real ticket. And if for some reason there is a problem, you can get your money back.
