Tuberville 'very interested' in Texas Tech
Just read this article on "the world leader".
If I was thinking purely for the conference I would think Tuberville would be better than Briles. He has proven to be a great coach, and would be another big "name" for the conference. I honestly did not think he would be interested in the Tech job.
However, if I were to view this as it relates to the longhorns I think that I would have to prefer Briles to Tuberville. One I dont think he is as good of a coach, and two he does make Baylor a semi-credible foe in the big 12. I doubt whoever Baylor would bring in to replace him could maximize RG3 in the years to come as well as Baylor's future potential like Briles. [Side note, I think it is absolutely absurd that some tech fans think that Robert Griffin III would follow Briles to Lubbock.]
What do yall think?

I think Tuberville would be better for the conference for both of those reasons you cite
The one that comes more immediately to mind is that if Briles were to go to Tech, that would leave Baylor floundering for a new face. If Tuberville goes, Baylor continues its upward momentum, while Tech retains some measure of credibility. Tuberville’s strategic philosophy is so amazingly different from Leach’s that it might take a little while to get things going.

All things considered
I actually voted for Tuberville. I like the fact that Briles has Baylor where they beat the aggies, and as a football fan I would like to see what Tuberville can do at tech. I do not see them as a threat to our recruits or our stature atop the big 12.
Tuberville would be good at one thing for sure...
He always could find a way to beat Bama. I think he was 7 and 3 against them and won 6 straight. That means Tech would always beat aggy. Well at least 70% of the time.
I voted other
I’m not a big Briles believer . . . Tuberville has not recruited the Texas high schools on a regular basis.
For Tech to maintain the success Leach produced, the next coach has to be as effective at recruiting the state as Leach was (or more so), and will need the kind of staff that can teach as effectively as Leach’s staff did. I doubt that person can be found.
And I strongly doubt that the current Tech athletic administration is capable of finding such a person.
Not after his performance against Nebraska.....
But with the current Athletic Administration, I could be very wrong….

Tuberville maybe....Kevin Sumlin?????
Would definitely strengthen the conference. He’s an awesome coach that brings out the best in players. Kinda scary but would enjoy seeing the compettion step up. At the same time maybe keep some of the homegrowns from going to the parasite schools i.e. ou, lsu. ark .
Why does every open coaching job elicit this question...
when everything points to him staying?
Head coach-in-waiting – how many fucking times does this need to be stated? I know, I know, there are people saying they would bolt for HC job at a lesser university now rather than wait until MB retires. Just realize, not everyone is as impatient as you/ lacks attention span.
His future empire is already built and is being maintained by the best. It’s like being 14 and knowing that when you turn 16 your dad will hand you the keys to a Mustang Fastback that he’s had and has rubbed with a diaper since 1967.
$$$- highest paid OC in the nation. He just saw the money bags available at UT with MB’s recent 69% raise (I know – I don’t and I’m sure that WM doesn’t expect such a high salary right off the bat. Let him earn it like Mack did).
He’s learning from the best recruiter in the nation, in the most fertile football fields in the country.
Have you heard? His wife loves Austin. Most of us have lived in Austin (or at least been there). Why the fuck would anyone want to leave there (I’ve been trying my entire Air Force career to get back there – San Antonio is the closest I’ve gotten).

I tried like hell to get stationed at Camp Mabry
But no dice. I was stationed a Ft. Hood for a while. Its one redeeming quality was its proximity to Austin. Otherwise, the time I was stationed at Ft. Hood, whether counting or not counting the time spent deployed, was the worst time in my entire life.

It really doesn’t matter, recruiting wise, who we hire if we can keep a version of the spread…and keep Lincoln Riley. He’s responsible for recruiting almost all the legit offensive talent the last several years. Leach has never been considered a good recruiter and doesn’t do nearly as much of it as some other HCs.
Craig James.
He’s run the Texas Tech program (into the ground) anyway. He may as well get paid well for it. He and his son are a blight on the football landscape, and the only place anyone of that bloodline should play football is on a Wii or XBox.
I’ve been concussed. I’ve had migraines. They suck, and there have been times I would have sold my soul to have access to that, and the medical personnel who were outside the shed while he was cooling off. The Leach situation can only be described as a premeditated character assassination and screw job by the Texas Tech administration, beginning with the AD. I can’t see Tuberville champing at the bit to go back into the situation he was in at Auburn. That would make as much sense as Fulmer applying for an opening at Bama in the distant future, except, you know, without the built-in abject hatred by the base Fulmer would face in that scenario.
Just because I'm an occasional to frequent troll, doesn't mean I lack a heart or don't have a point. Rocky Top Talk blog ban: I did it for teh lulz.
No way Robert Griffin goes to Tech
if Briles takes the job. He would lose a year of elgibility for transferring within the conference. See Luke Axtel.
