The Big 12 Championship Game is Here !!!!!
Texas vs Nebraska...............................
I know we are two touchdown favorites......(why just two ?)
I know our offense is much better than their very good defense.....
I know our defense is in a different league than their average, at best, offense...
I know our special teams are totally superior to theirs...........
Then why is my stomach starting to get that nervous feeling again ????????? Am I going to have to suffer through another game like the first half versus Colorado or watch the Aggies shred our superior defense ? Please say no.....for whatever reason, my nervousness quotient is bubbling again. Maybe because its the Big 12 Championship Game and we really need to win this. Maybe because its the only step left to get to the National Championship Game. Maybe because its the game where Colt will either win the Heisman with his performance or lose it. Maybe because it is possible Bo Pellini will come up with a gameplan like Auburn did against Bama and almost win the game........
I guess its all of this.......I have got to calm down and enjoy this. I atttended Texas from 1967 to Dec 1970 and enjoyed a 30 game win streak that ended New Years Day 1971. I wasn't as jacked then as I am now........The current era of Texas Football is truly something to behold.
Anyway, my head tells me we are going to roll over Nebraska 31-7, but my stomach is telling me 24-21.
What do you think?

Instructions: place one index finger in each year and repeat....
peanut butter peanut butter peanut butter, etc.
Supposed to drown out the “noise”.
Horns win going away because they score at the end of 1st half and beginning of 2nd half and force Nebraska to play “catch up” throwing the ball.

I HATE THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!!
I feel the same way. All week I wake up to go to work and turn on ESPN, ESPNU or ESPN News and hear all about what is going to happen when and if Texas loses to Nebraska. Shit, all these wins and not many of these pundits are stating how good the team has been all year. I honestly feel like I am going to have a breakdown from the lack of respect that all of these people have for Texas. Even last year when the team had one of the toughest schedules ever, they did not give us our due. I honestly don’t even want to hear anymore about the game, I just want to get it over with so we can focus on Pasadena and start buying up some more property at the coliseum.
Hook ’Em!!
You might get lonely
the game is at the Rose Bowl, not the Coliseum.

Oh you should see the coliseum, Spaniard.

It's ok....
It seems as though every good conference game we’ve played this season had some sort of “upset” element to the pregame hype:
OU: They were gonna upset us because we beat them last year, and they had a superior defense, O-line, RBs, and a Heisman-winning QB.
OSU: They were finally gonna get over that “hump” and “finish the game” against us, unlike 4 of the past 5 years. The game was also at the Boone Pickens Bowl.
Kansas: Todd Reesing, aka the “Lake Travis Trout”, was supposed to come in and give us payback for lack of respect coming out of high school. Also, Kerry Meier and Dezmon Briscoe were God’s gift to football (they did play well, though…)
What’s funny is our closest game, aTm, was given no respect at all by the media, whereas I was nervous out of my socks all week. I think we’ll do this weekend what we’ve done to teams that were touted as being possible “upset alerts”. Good luck ’Horns!!! Hook ’Em!

its not even gonna be close!
see mizzou, osu, KU this year.
31-17 (they get 10 points in garbage time)
"We'll be baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!"
30-10
Texas will be up 17-0 at half and ’huskers will get a fg in the 3rd and a meaningless TD in the 4th.
Nebraska DB Asante will get at least 2 personal fouls for late hits…mark my words, that dude is dirty…
Let's hope he grabs a handful of nice touchdowns either way
He’s 35yds. away from being second on the all-time UT receiving yardage charts, which would put him ahead of Mike Adams, but behind Big Roy. However, three touchdowns tomorrow and three in the national championship would put him ahead of Big Roy on the career TD list. Two put him in sole possession of the single-season TD record. Eleven catches between now and the bowl put him in sole possession of the career receptions record.
Ah, screw it; I need to do a new Shipley record watch fanpost.

A request:
I know I’m a newby and everything, but if we do win this NU game, could we all please act like real Horns fans before the NC.
I mean not whimpering around and complaining that we have to face the almighty and infallible Tebow, who has single-handedly put together the greatest season anyone in the CFB world has ever imagined.
I just keep thinking how disappointing it would be if folks on this site were nervous before the NC. Totally lame. We should enjoy it, for better or worse.
Don't count on it
There will be sense of realism about Florida (or Bama?)‘s quality, but I don’t think you’ll see anyone whimpering around here. Nor do many here view Jebow as either of those adjectives.
However, you probably can count on some ridiculously in-depth analysis on everything from wind pressure to Brandon Spikes thumb presses.

Apparently you are new here
Because I haven’t read a single post on this blog that eludes to Tebow’s greatness (without it being tongue in cheek). We’re actually pretty sick of the media slobber-fest.
*This is seriously 2005 redux.
well
I am new here. But I believe there is a post on this site wherein someone is “praying” that we don’t play Florida. I have read it, and its commentary, several times looking for sarcasm — and a few hours ago it just had me reeling.
I’m very glad to hear that most of us haven’t bought into the month long SEC love-in we’re about to get from the national media.
We will be ready to play anyone.
People here aren't giving Florida much respect
mostly I think because they, like me, have watched Florida’s games. The hype is already starting for both SEC teams and we’ve all seen them struggle during their season. A close win for Texas and it’s laughable in the media or a blueprint for how they can be beaten. A close win for the other two and the media acts like David just beat Goliath with the very last stone in his pouch.
I don’t fear either SEC team.
Go read the archives from 2005, and that was when we were facing the Greatest of all Time
You will konw you have n
The only thing that worries me
is that we will give up too many return yards. If Nebraska wins it will be because we lost it in special teams and Suh rushed Colt into throwing bad passes for one or two picks. With that said I think Colt will play reasonably well, defense will limit Nebraska to about 14 points as well as get a couple picks and we will pull out the win on our way to Pasadena. 31-10 Texas
