Again... Media always hating on the Horns
After reading article after article about how the Horns barely scraped by Nebraska, therefore TCU, Cincy, and Boise all deserve being in the National Championship instead, I can't help but be a bit frustrated. Many articles talk about how the BCS is a bad system: Texas gets in while the other undefeateds all get screwed. Many mention how bad Colt did and how bad Texas' offense did in general. Some even mention how we "barely" escaped College Station a week ago. All of them, however, talk about Alabama as fully deserving to be in the national championship and fail to mention anything about Alabama's close wins over Tennessee and Auburn, both of which are worse then #22 Nebraska. No one mentions that Alabama's offense didn't get a first down till 2:45 left in the first quarter, against an Auburn defense far inferior to that of the Blackshirts. Or how 'Bama needed two (2!!!!) blocked field goals from big boy Terrence Cody to beat a 7-5 Tennessee team. So why is Alabama so untouchable, as would Florida have been had they won, while Texas so undeserving? Had a Tim Tebow led team scraped together a tough fought, defensive minded game versus a ranked team in a conference championship game to preserve a national title shot and an undefeated season, the only things sportswriters would have talked about are how he willed his team to win and how he helps circumsise children in the Philippines. Give me a break. Hook 'em Horns!! Hats off to the Ndamukong Suh and the Nebraska defense and kicker, they gave us a hell of a fight, but I'll take a W any day. Hey Pasadena... we are baaaaaaack!!

Hell Yes
We have our chance, the ball is in our court. Either we prove the doubters wrong or we dont…simple as that.
Awesome
I want Texas to be overlooked, and I think it’s great Ingram is now the Heisman favorite. It gives this team plenty of ammo heading into Pasadena. Say what you want about “bulletin board” material, but athletes are some of the most prideful human beings around. Challenge them enough and they’ll find a little something extra to use on the field.

One game season
You are right, if the 12-10 Alabama game happens yesterday, we have a different conversation. Or if Cincy wins barely by a point yesterday … oh wait ! And somehow analysts think Cincy could be more deserving.
Ah, what would I give for analysts with attention spans longer than a few mins.
What I've noticed is that
there is a lot of vitriol out in the internets in regards to the Horns win last night. I’ve tried defending the Horns for weeks now but it’s turned into an onslaught and I can’t keep up. Now I just ignore them. Hook Em!
P.S.
Mack, PLEASE fix the O-Line … offer bribes, threaten with bodily harm, whatever you have to do.

Well ...
Texas had a chance to lay a beat down on Nebraska and silence the skeptics – they didn’t. I would think the end of game REALLY didn’t help; for most people it looked like Texas got bailed out by a personal foul call and should have blown the game due to atrocious clock management. That’s why I still have a sour taste in my mouth: teams are SUPPOSED to lose games when they make those kind of mistakes. Somehow we survived. Once the game is set and the hype begins, that stuff will l recede into memory, but for now I can accept it.
Enough!
Im sick and tired of hearing we were lucky or the other team was robbed. When any other team scrapes out a close victory it was their “will” that made it happen. Champions snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat. The O didnt have their best game of the season but the D did! No quarter was given and none was taken. NEs D line was amazing ,I had no idea how good they were but I did know how good our D is. I hope we are the underdogs because that is when all of the naysayers will be shut up. UT plays best with adversity, it scares the crap out of me , but these guys have answered every time its needed. What a way to end the season, going back to Cali!!!

So ...
If Colt had held on to to the ball for one second longer, you wouldn’t say Nebraska was lucky? Clearly, luck played a factor. Obviously a win is a win, and we’re all happy to be on to Pasadena. I’m just saying I understand the other side of the argument.
Did you miss my point?
He said luck didn’t play a role. I argued that it did. Are you trying to claim luck had no role. Address my point if you’re going to respond.
Not a miss.... its reality!
Prove luck. 2+2 =4 … surprise ou fans… well back to the subject… You can not prove luck. Plays were made and some were not, the outcome is the result of the blood sweat and tears of every player and every coach on the roster. Lucky is what others use to describe the winners and mask their deficiencies. Do I think UT under performed…on offense, yes, but the D picked up the slack. You can say what if tech drops the ball in those last seconds last year??? Crabtree beat or guy and Harrel made a perfect pass to win…end of story. So we go and play osu and see the band with the weird berets and goofy uniforms. It does not matter, not now, last night gave that burden to NE. UT earned what they have this year even though some performances were lacking. Give them credit and quit saying what if ! Hook’em
Whats to Guess?
A championship is not won by indivduals but the sum of all its parts. Good or bad. What if a meteor hits oklahoma… well… lets say Iran?, so what . People made plays some did not but the outcome is still a UT Big 12 Championship with free tickets to Cali. You cant live in what if or should of, would of , could of.
Media Bias
It is rediculous the bias being shown by the media regarding the game last night. You would think that NU ran the ball down the Horns throat by the way it is said the Texas got “lucky” to win. It is a 60 minute game, scoring the winning points in the last second or the first second of a game is a mute point, they scored, they won, game over, period. NU’s defense deserves all the good things you can say about a defense, they were outstanding. The offense though is a whole other issue, NU mustered 106 yards of total offense to go with their 5 first downs (to Texas’ 17), they did nothing to earn a victory. As bad as Texas played on offense they still managed to rally late and get the go ahead points, good teams do that bad teams don’t. Just a few weeks ago the media was in love with Colt, now they do nothing but disparage him and say he shouldn’t even be considered for the Heisman ( the winningest QB in college history and most accurate??). Texas has a month to figure out if they can get a running game going and better pass protection for Colt, if they don’t solve those issues they will not see a come from behind victory against Alabama. Mack Brown will do what it takes to get the Horns prepared and I think Texas will indeed fix some of its problems and show up and represent the great state of Texas proudly. GO HORNS! BEAT BAMA!
American-Statesman goes Dewey beats Truman
Maybe not bias, but surely an itchy trigger finger: you guys see the AAS email update immediately following the game with the subject line, "Horns Fall in Close, Defensive Big 12 Championship?
absolutely none of that matters...
so we get a month of “experts” expounding on how Texas has no chance against a juggernaut – we’ve been there, done that… and it turned out pretty tasty, I believe.
If we get to settle it on the field, I feel fine. All the talking and posturing – it’s all just sound and fury, signifying nothing…
David vs Goliath!
all this rhetoric sounds awfully familiar….. like a rose bowl some other place… some other time… I’m getting old can someone refresh my memory????
Damnd if we do, damned if we don't
Screw the haters. We got screwed last year and they all laughed. Now that 1 second played to our favor they all want to cry.
Bama DID NOT deserve the win against Auburn. Auburn dominated all game, until the last minute—which is all that counts. Texas is as deserving of the NC game as any other team and all the haters can bite me.
We will beat Bama, and that will settle that.
