Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

1sec screwed us last yr, 1 sec saved us this year= poetic justice

I, like many 'Horns fans, went to bed completely relieved, exhausted and a bit very angry at our performance. However, after a good nights rest, i woke up with a different feeling which is all good...my thoughts after the jump

Star-divide

yah yah yah, the media is all over us, tcu/boise st/cincinnati fanboys are against us...blah blah... and to be honest, maybe they have a right to question whether Texas belongs in the Title game.  However, if you would have to told me that we would have 3 TO's, a blocked punt, multiple screw ups on special teams, colt being sacked 9 times and only scored 13pts on offense...and still WON, i would have gladly taken it

The reason? Well, sometimes you deserve to win and lose (e.g. tech last year) and sometimes you deserve to lose and win (e.g. bama vs. tennessee & auburn, saints vs redskins (today)), but great teams always seem to find a way to pull out these sorts of games when all the breaks fall against you and you rely on sure will to win the game.

The way i see it, we could have awoken up this morning being 12-1, no BCS title game and the laughin stock of the entire college football world. But instead we are 13-0, Big 12 Champs and with the opportunity to be National Champs.

Finally, the best thing that resulted from our narrow win against Nebraska is that it sets up the "Perfect Storm" for the Horns to pull the upset against 'Bama in the Title game. All the ingredients are there for a big upset:

1). A disrespected but talented underdog (Texas)

2). A highly favored team that the media loves and will blow smoke up their ass (Alabama)

3). Extra time for the underdog team to prepare for the big game (30 days till Jan .7th)

Honestly, if we played 'Bama 10 times, heck they might win 9 out of 10 times but for ONE game for all the marbles, i'll take our chances with Muschamp's D, a senior QB and the spirit of VY in the house.

Texas 17 Alabama 10

justice has been done. I began loudly taunting all the media doubters and pickers of a Neb upset as soon as I could tell the ball went through the upright. This was conducted by me yelling and making hand gestures at the TV. They were all wrong again.

Final thoughts – I’d much rather be Texas going into this game than Alabama. Media thinks we will be crushed. Great motivation for our players.

I disagree

I think Texas would win atleast half the games if they played 10 times.

I don't like the idea that Texas "deserves" this because of last year

it implies that had the team didn’t earn it, they are just getting a free pass because of previous events. Yeah yeah, last year sucked, but this year has been a different beast altogether, and I don’t want people thinking that Texas is only playing for a NC because of karma or justice, but because they are one of the best two teams in the country.

If you're so sure of what it ain't, how about telling us what it am!

My opinion no matter who wins

Is that, even tho both teams have stellar Defenses… We will score more than 10. We have only been held below 20 once this year, and that was against Tennessee when we apparently didnt have a game plan. Like i said, i’m not making a prediction persay but Bama will score at least 20. And i also dont think that Texas has faced a defense like Bam’s, although Nebraska has a superb line, i think overall Bama’s D is probably a bit better. I think Texas could score more than they did against Nebraska but they will have to play better (like they did against A&M or Mizzou) (both POOR defenses) in order to put up enough points to win.

Even though i said i wasnt predicting i’ll just put 2 numbers side by side with a hyphen between them and you can guess which team i think will get each score.

31-17
